Question about Dymo LabelWriter 450 & Koha
by Karen M. Rogers 28 Feb '13

Is anyone using this label printer for spine labels? It spits out blank labels when I click "print label" in Koha. Can anyone give me some configuring tips? Maybe it's a margin thing? Thank you. Call number is present in item records but not displaying on OPAC
by amutsikiwa 28 Feb '13

28 Feb '13

Hi All I have imported a records from an Excel file to Koha. My major challenge now is that call numbers are aappearing on the item record. However, when I open the item record for editing in cataloguing module, the o - Full call number has the call number already has the call number and when I save the record the call number them appears. I have close to 90 000 item records. It would be difficult to open all the records and update them. I will appreciate any hint on updating the records. Hi Thanks for the information. In my Excel file I do have a column for 952$o and 050$a, but I do not know why the item records where not populated with the call numbers? Also my itemcallnumber in the Cataloguing global preferences is set to 050ab. I am now wondering is there is a script or mysql query that I can run to update the item call numbers. Then your call number will appear on item records. if you used Marcedit for translating your Excel file to MARC, this should be easy. However if you were doing copy cataloging and you wanted the call number to show up in items, then you should set the itemcallnumber under the cataloging system preference. For example if you were using LC then you would enter 050ab into the itemcallnumber field. You can check http://manual.koha-community.org/3.10/en/administration.html#catprefs for more info. I am not sure setting the itemcallnumber will work for imported data. Others may be able to confirm. I usually populate the field while converting data using MarcEdit. Hope this helps. New signing keys for the Debian packages

>From the next Koha release, the signing key for the packages will be changed from its current one to a general package signing key. The ID for this new key is A2E41F10 should you want to use it manually, however to update your servers to accept the new key is simply a matter of running: wget -O- http://debian.koha-community.org/koha/gpg.asc | sudo apt-key add - If you don't do this, then you will get warnings about invalid signatures next time you upgrade the packages. -- Robin Sheat Catalyst IT Ltd. ✆ +64 4 803 2204 GPG: 5957 6D23 8B16 EFAB FEF8 7175 14D3 6485 A99C EB6D

Re: [Koha] authority search in koha 3.8.8
by Quoc Uy 28 Feb '13

I think the problem is $100a is a authority record, which mean that you can't import new value to. You just only can pick its values. So i think if you want to import from file, go to Marc framework, change the $100a to normal value, so you can import values from your file. Hope this help! Best regards! Nguyen Quoc Uy

Re: [Koha] MARC import problem
by Elaine Bradtke 27 Feb '13

I will clarify I can bring up a record using /cgi-bin/koha/catalogue/ detail.pl?biblionumber=NNN <http://detail.pl/?biblionumber=NNN> The records seem complete (including attached items). I can edit and save the record, and the edits remain in place. If I click on the option to open the record in the OPAC I get an ERROR 404 If I search for the record (key word, title, author, item type, bar code, biblio number) the record cannot be retrieved. None of the 709 records from this upload can be found using normal search methods. All the records that were in the catalogue before the upload seem to work ok. I'm going through the records now to see if I can spot any fatal errors with the MARC. One thing I noticed - the 040 field is missing. But if I edit a record and add this in, it does not correct the problem. The record is still not searchable. Further testing of the system: I took one of the non-searchable records and did Edit as new (duplicate). Not surprisingly a record created this way had all the same problems as above. Creating a new record using the default framework gives the same results as the last import. Creating a new record through z39.50 download fails with the following message: All arguments must be MARC::Field objects at /home/koha/koha-test/intranet/cgi-bin/cataloguing/addbiblio.pl line 150 I don't know if these are all related. Clearly we've got problems somewhere. But I'm not sure where to look.
