Putting zebrasrv.pid in the "/etc/rc.local" file in 'Single Installation Mode" (Was Re: Koha 3.10.x Centos installation document)

AFAIK, the "zebrasrv.pid" files usually exist in: ../var/lock/zebradb/authorities/zebrasrv.pid , and ../var/lock/zebradb/biblios/zebrasrv.pid Thanks in advance. Best regards, -- Andi Sugandi.

Dear Koha kommunitarians, I'm harvesting news for this month's newsletter. Please send me by the 20th anything you think your fellow community members might like to know about. "News" can be as short as a sentence or as long as a paper. I especially encourage you to send me a line or two for the gossip/society column about what you're currently working on. And if you know of a go-live not announced on the list, please be sure to let me know about it. Thanks, Daniel Grobani

koha as a ready-made VM appliance?
by Manos PETRIDIS 13 Aug '13

13 Aug '13

I wonder if there would be interest out there for a ready-made koha VM appliance, available for customers of the main computing clouds (Amazon, Microsoft, et al). It came to me that in order for a library to cater for a circulation of over 10 million transactions, it would have to service a lot of branches, be equally accessible by all as far as throughput is concerned, and be able to gracefully handle transient loads. I use koha myself, running as a VM running on Oracle VM Virtualbox, but this is hardly scalable. A cloud implementation seems to fit the bill. n fact it could be a godsend for small libraries that can't invest even in the smaller koha local set-up. Perhaps someone could even "sell" his/her expertise in setting-up koha and supporting libraries under this scheme. The software may be open and free, the know-how is not. So, has anyone tried it so far? Kind regards, Manos PETRIDIS Athens , Greece

Heritage to Koha
by Barry Cannon 13 Aug '13

Hello, We are moving from a Heritage system to Koha and wondering if anyone has any experience with migrating the Circulation and Loans data? The Bibs and items etc are fine but the circulation data is proving tedious. Any tips/suggestions would be great. Thanks Barry

I'm wondering if there is a way to find bibs that have multiple items attached where the items are not all of the same type? I think there are some nested queries involved in this - but I'm not really sure where to start. Thanks Nicole

Web installation configuration options & cron jobs inclusion/exclusion
by Victor Pang 11 Aug '13

11 Aug '13

Before running the Web Installation for Koha configuration, I will like some opinions on the configuration options to select for the Web Installation. A little background...I will be using Koha primarily for the catalogue / OPAC features only - no aquisition, no circulation, no to almost everything else. I will be using the Library Branches grouping feature as different organisations or individuals to contribute and manage their own set of catalogue records (but every catalogue records will be searchable by all and the public in general). Our library material consists of digital audio files or digital documents / published papers (mostly PDFs but will accept other document formats) with a catalogue field with the URL hyperlink to where the files are actually stored. Other library materials may be audio CDs, cassette audio tapes, vinyl audio records, music scores, manuscript...all of which can be published or unpublished materials. Coming back to the Web Installation, is there any options in the Mandatory sections which I can unselect, and which options in the Optional sections do I need to select for my library. I am trying to keep the initial configuration of the database to the minimum for my needs. By the way, does anyone has a MARC21 bibliographical format standard for digital media and document files? Thanks! -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Web-installation-configuration-options-cr… Sent from the Koha-general mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
