GBSD: 2013-08-09 is done, next is 2013-08-23!
by Magnus Enger 10 Aug '13

10 Aug '13

Dear Community! Global bug squashing day 2013-08-09 just ended. Here are the numbers before: Needs Signoff...157 (54 bugs) Signed Off.......90 (46 bugs) Passed QA........28 (12 bugs) Failed QA.......150 Doesn't apply....26 In Discussion...119 and after: Needs Signoff...138 (44 bugs) Signed Off......116 (62 bugs) Passed QA........29 (13 bugs) Failed QA.......145 Doesn't apply....26 In Discussion...121 "Needs signoff" went from 157 to 138, which is not too shabby, considering this is probably a time when a lot of people are on holiday. In fact, this was so much fun/use, the next GBSD will be in just 2 weeks time, on 2013-08-23: http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/2013-08-23_Global_bug_squashing_day So mark that date in your calendars, drop all your other appointments and come join the fun! buggy issue with 785 field display
by Haik Zargaryan 10 Aug '13

10 Aug '13

Dear friends, We are creating a catalog for our continuing resources. There are a lot of journals which at some point were split into several new ones. To define and display this relationship in the record the 785 MARC field, with 6 as a second indicator value, is used. So, in our parent record (which was later split into two new ones), we have created two 785 fields respectively for each succeeding entry: 245 00$a Journal of Natural Sciences 785 16$t Proceedings of Physics$w123456 785 16$t Biological Journal $w12345 According to the MARC standard based on these field values koha is supposed to display in the record view something like this: ---------- Split into: Proceedings of Physics and: Biological Journal. ---------- However, it shows: ---------- Split into .. and ...: Proceedings of Physics Split into .. and ...: Biological Journal. ---------- Obviously, koha fails to "distribute the variables" in the respective split into ... and... fields. Is this a bug, or we are doing something wrong? regards, haik.

Active Directory + LDAP (Yes, another issue :( )
by AWippler 10 Aug '13

10 Aug '13

Having trouble binding to active directory. Following this guide: http://kohablog.wordpress.com/2011/03/29/using-active-directory-ldap/ Using ldp.exe on my active directory server, I was able to bind to ldap.directory.local with config below the logs. I inserted line 85 to display: warn sprintf("test : %s ", $filter->as_string); Since I was not able to bind base using ldp.exe, I force NET::LDAP to the subtree scope by adding "scope => 'subtree'," Using Koha 3.12 from debian squeeze apt repo. Server slowness during reindexing
by Heather Braum (NEKLS) 09 Aug '13

09 Aug '13

Our system comes to a full stop for about 25-45 seconds every ten minutes. I have been told in the past this is the fast reindexer process, but I don’t remember our system doing this in previous Koha versions before we were upgraded to 3.10 (3.10.5) in May. Does anyone else see this type of behavior? This full system stop was originally happening at the :x0 (:10, :20, :30, :40, :50, :00) minute mark beginning in early July after we were moved to a new, powerful server, and has slowly regressed to happening (currently) at the x7 (:07, :17:, :27:, :37, :47, :57) minute marks. The behavior is the following: The system will be working fine, and then all of a sudden a new page you’re trying to load will sit and wait to load for 25-45 seconds before finally loading. I’ll check the clock and without fail, it is the :x7 minute mark. I am constantly pulling up pages with records, and the system is instantly responsive the other 9 minutes of the 10 minutes. I do not think the system is supposed to be responding with this behavior. Has anyone else seen behavior like this? Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on? Re: [Koha] Anyone have an annual circulation of over 10 million transactions
by Manos PETRIDIS 09 Aug '13

Although 10 million transactions are an absurdly large circulation, I wonder if by "transactions" you mean db transactions, including that is workload incurred by OPAC users, remote searches, administrative work etc.? If on the other hand you do know of a library that does have such a workload/production, I would be most curious to know of the software (ILMS/DB/OS), architecture and hardware used. If so, could you please reply with library name and number of circs. Thanks. Koha search by libraries grouped
by schnydszch 09 Aug '13

09 Aug '13

Will it be possible for Koha ILS to group libraries, say I have geo-political region, I group libraries in the region, and then make that region searchable and still would be able to search separately by location of the region in the library dropdown in Koha's opac. Will that be possible? Thanks and have a nice day y'all! -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Koha-search-by-libraries-grouped-tp576382… Sent from the Koha-general mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Re: [Koha] koha catalog only field in item field is library location
by schnydszch 09 Aug '13

09 Aug '13

Thanks for the prompt response. If I put them in the 852 field, will I need to open it up in the bibliographic framework? Do I need to do something else to make it searchable in the OPAC by location if MARC tag for location is in 852? TIA -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/koha-catalog-only-field-in-item-field-is-… Sent from the Koha-general mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

koha catalog only field in item field is library location
by schnydszch 09 Aug '13

09 Aug '13

Hello koha developers and users. A project will soon under way and I have a question. Data will be migrated from an union catalogue but the only field for the item records will only be the library location, it has no accession/barcode or whatsoever. It will only show that the library is available in a certain library. Now my question is: Is it possible that the location of the bibliorecords be available in the bibliorecords? If it's possible how will that be done? Thank you in advance! -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/koha-catalog-only-field-in-item-field-is-… Sent from the Koha-general mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Global bug squashing day - come join the fun!
by Magnus Enger 09 Aug '13

09 Aug '13

Dear community! GBSD just ended in NZ, but wherever you are you can choose to abide by any timezone, so if you choose Hawaii time there is still almost 22 hours to go! When we started the numbers looked like this: Needs Signoff...157 (54 bugs) Signed Off.......90 (46 bugs) Passed QA........28 (12 bugs) Failed QA.......150 Doesn't apply....26 In Discussion...119 And a couple of hours ago they looked like this: Needs Signoff...144 (43 bugs) Signed Off......112 (62 bugs) Passed QA........28 (12 bugs) Failed QA.......147 Doesn't apply....26 In Discussion...119 As you can see, some progress has been made, but there is still a lot of fun to be had. So let go of everything else and come join the fun! Get your name on the dashboard for the first time or see if you can climb in the ranks! Maybe you can even beat Kyle as the #1 signoff hero of August? http://dashboard.koha-community.org/ Not sure how you can help? Jump on the IRC channel and we will help you figure it out! http://koha-community.org/get-involved/irc/ Best regards, Magnus
