We have occasionally found that an orphaned biblioitem gets left behind (not deleted) when the corresponding biblio is successfully deleted and items are successfully deleted or moved from that biblionumber to a new one. As the biblioitem contains the biblionumber, this can lead to it being found under some search circumstances. I have never worked out exactly "why" [1] so have no easy solution. I just delete them manually directly in MySQL [WARNING, may be hazardous to your db health: DELETE FROM biblioitems WHERE biblionumber=xyz]. [1] My cataloguers suggest that it occurs when they "overwrite" a single old biblio with a new Z39.50 download, and then move multiple items from several old biblios to the new one prior to rebuilding Zebra -b -r. I have been able to reproduce this, but not systematically ... (this happens more often with serials than books, but it's not framework dependant.) How frequently to run zebra rebuild and what switches
by Steven Nickerson 23 Aug '13

23 Aug '13

Hello everyone, Looking for some advice and recommendations. For a fairly small library running Koha 3.12.00.000 from the Debian squeeze packages, how often should the zebra_rebuild.pl script be executed and with exactly which switches? Right now I run it at 7:30 AM each morning with "-run-as-root -b -r -v" (yes, I run it as ROOT). The reason I ask is that by doing it this way, when the Librarian enters new holdings they don't show up until the next morning.can I run it more frequently, and if so what are people's recommendations on how often? I don't want the burden the server as the rebuild seems to be somewhat resource intensive and for at least the final part of the rebuild we get a "no results found" message when searching so I don't want to rebuild too frequently. Suggestions? THANKS, as always! Steve

Querry related to Deletion in KOHA.

Even after successfull deletion of withdrawn documents from the front end, The entry for those documents is not removed from the items table, and No entry is being made in deleteditems table. Is there any setting you know off that may be preventing the actual deletion from the database? I checked the log as well, it said deletion has been done. Any inputs??

Data matching during MARC import
by Iming Chan 22 Aug '13

22 Aug '13

Dear all, Just wondering whether it is possible to use either 999$c or 999$d (Biblionumber) as record matching mechanism during MARC import? Currently, we are matching MARC records using 001 (Control number). However, every now and then, one of us forgot to manually add the Koha biblionumber to 001 field after saving a new bibliographic record. Therefore, when we import MARC records, matches are not made (i.e. fuller/higher quality records not replace brief ones created as part of the acquisitions process). It will be nice that the biblionumber can automatically added to MARC 001 tag when saving a new record. Until then, we will have to save the record, then edit the same record to manually enter the assigned biblionumber to MARC 001 tag!! Manage staged MARC records
by Iming Chan 22 Aug '13

22 Aug '13

Dear all, I'm just wondering whether there is a way to delete/remove "cleaned" batch listings from the Manage staged MARC records screen? Currently, I'm upto 37 batches and has gone to second screen. Obviously this list will continue to grow as more MARC imports are made. Personally, once a batch has been cleaned it should be removed from this listing. LDAP Auth Problem
by samrocks1011 22 Aug '13

22 Aug '13

I have install ldap server with samba for domain environment. By default the password encryption used is "SSHA" in ldap . Currently koha is not able to connect to LDAP with SSHA Encryption. If I make the password to clear text in ldap the authentication works perfectly with koha. If possible please send he modified Auth ldap file i.e "Auth_with_ldap.pm" which can support ssha authentication also. -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/LDAP-Auth-Problem-tp5765223.html Sent from the Koha-general mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

How to activate memcached after installation?
by Victor Pang 21 Aug '13

21 Aug '13

I have already installed Koha 3.12.3. How do I activate memcached on a live installation, assuming I have also installed and running the memcached server? I assume I need to amend the SetEnv variables MEMCACHED_SERVERS and MEMCACHED_NAMESPACE in koha-httpd.conf...on some documentation, MEMCACHED_SERVERS is "127.0.0.1:11211" while on others, it is "localhost:11211" (I do know that localhost is IP address 127.0.0.1 but there is subtle difference in them when used in certain context). Also, some documentation states MEMCACHED_NAMESPACE as "KOHA" while others is "Koha" or "kohl", so which one is correct? Are there other files to modify other than the above? Maybe the koha install log file (where is it, by the way?) so that a future Koha update/upgrade will pick up the memcached configuration? -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/How-to-activate-memcached-after-installat… Sent from the Koha-general mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
