re-importing books, duplicate barcodes
by magmatic 14 Jan '14

14 Jan '14

I have imported a large pile of books already. Now I'm going to import another pile, except that there are lots of duplicate books. All books have barcodes in the marc file, so I want to test for duplicity on that field. If there is a duplicate, I want to update the existing book with new information. Can anyone give me some detailed instructions on how to do this? The last time I looked, I think it was possible, but a little confusing. Thanks. -- Tim -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/re-importing-books-duplicate-barcodes-tp5… Sent from the Koha-general mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

koha xslt and subject at the right side
by schnydszch 11 Jan '14

11 Jan '14

Hi all! With default xslt and edited xslt based on the default xslt, I'm getting the following output: <http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/file/n5783572/1.jpg> The subject is included with all other biblio details. However, with an empty xslt, I get the following output <http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/file/n5783572/2.jpg> The subject is at the right side. Now, my question is: How do I get the subjects on the right side using the default xslt? Please lead me to what should I customize for my desired output. Thanks in advance and have a nice day! -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/koha-xslt-and-subject-at-the-right-side-t… Sent from the Koha-general mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

koha xslt and framework
by schnydszch 11 Jan '14

11 Jan '14

With current version(s), if I add/customize display through modifying xslt, can I make xslts that would only be applicable to a particular framework. For example, in a certain framework, I want general notes to not show in title notes(opac)/description(intranet) but instead shown below say Publisher details area. Is that possible? Thanks in advance & cheers! -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/koha-xslt-and-framework-tp5783402.html Sent from the Koha-general mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Collection usage report: issues field in items table
by Chad Roseburg 11 Jan '14

11 Jan '14

I'm trying to assess the usage of a particular collection and am wondering if the 'issues' field in the items table represents all issues: Ie., both from the old_issues and issues tables. If the total number of issues is represented in this field, the report would not need to join these tables ...which is what I'm hoping. Thanks! -- Chad Roseburg Automation Dept. limiting items to branch
by Robert Bruno 10 Jan '14

10 Jan '14

Hello, My library (Foundation Center, NY) is trying to set up Koha so we can use advanced search to link a specific item type with a specific branch. I'm posting this seeking advice...this is my first time mailing the list. More details: we have five main branches, and each branch circulates different-sized portions of the library collection. One branch (New York) circulates a small portion of the collection, while another branch (Atlanta) circulates a much larger portion of the collection. This is problematic for us, since if we limit to New York and Circulating Item, we will essentially get everything that Atlanta circulates, even if the New York library owns it but does not circulate it. Here's an example using our Catalog: --go to Advanced Search (http://catalog.foundationcenter.org/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl) --do keyword search "management" and limit to circulating item and New York (http://catalog.foundationcenter.org/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?idx=kw&q=ma…) --the first record (Donor cultivation) is owned by Atlanta and New York, but not circulated by New York (it's only circulated by Atlanta). We want to weed these out and only display records that have a circulating item in New York. Any ideas on how to fix this? I've been working with our vendor Bywater and they suggested we mail the list to see if anyone has the same problem. If you need any further information, please feel free to email me directly. Koha-Zebra Unimarc Authority Indexers
by Bacamarte JN 10 Jan '14

10 Jan '14

Hi everybody. Everything but authority searching seens to work well in Koha installation and the reason is that, unlike Marc21, Unimarc flavour comes without the files 'authority-koha-indexdefs.xml' and 'authority-zebra-indexdefs.xls'. I have tryed the instructions found in https://github.com/colinsc/koha/blob/master/etc/zebradb/marc_defs/unimarc/a…, http://www.mail-archive.com/koha-bugs@lists.koha-community.org/msg77359.htm… http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/attachment.cgi?id=23114, but they did not work for me, much probably because of my lacking of experience, and now I feel stuck in a dead end and it will be very frustrating to give up Koha after spending so many spare time trying to give access to the almost 43,000 authority records created and still not available to the library public users because of prior budged constraint. Could someone help me in this ordeal? I installed Koha on Ubuntu desktop packages. Many thanks.
