Biblio appears twice (absolute duplicate down to timestamp and biblio and control numbers)

Koha 3.14.06 Quite a while back we had a problem with duplicate biblios appearing for newly added catalogue records. But this time it's only one. It is an exact duplicate of a record that had an item added to it (not a new catalogue record). A search on the biblio number returns both records, one says no items, the other has four items attached. However if you click on the record with no items, it shows the four items attached, if you click on the "next" button, it shows the same record. Looking at the MARC in two separate windows, they are absolutely identical - time stamp, biblionumber, control number. This shouldn't be possible. I don't know how to fix this, because I can't tell which is the ghost and which is the original. I'm tempted to export the record. Delete both copies, and then re import the record. We run Koha on a virtual machine, and I hear that there was a reboot over the weekend and our test site froze. Production only seems to have suffered this one glitch as far as we can tell. Re-indexing didn't seem to help. Is there is a particular command we need to use to resolve duplicate biblios? I can't believe that I spent so much time troubleshooting the Koha mail issue and missed two obvious things. Thanks so much to Riley for pointing out that the koha commands should exist on Ubuntu. The most embarrassing issue is that the reason that I could not find them was that I forgot to use sudo. I have turned on the email so now I'll see if it works. GBSD 23-07: UTF-8 code cleanup

Hi, last general meeting we set Wednesday 23rd, July as our next Global Bug Squashing Day. This time, GBSD targets a specific problem: UTF-8 handling problems in Koha, for which a bug has been filled (bug 11944 [1]) and Jonathan Druart (Joubu) has been working on. The idea is to test Jonathan's work, and find bugs (and hopefully fix them). The key ideas on how data must be handled so no encoding problems arise can be found on the wiki [2]. Please notice that Jonathan's work is currently on a branch in Biblibre's git repo [3]. Biblibre has also set sandboxes for testing [4]. Koha Email Question

I've spent the last two days trying to resolve this problem and I am not even sure I fully understand it. Koha does not appear to be sending out email. I am using Koha 3.12 I am using Ubuntu 12.04 I am using Postfix port 25 I can send an email from commandline as such: mail -s "This is working" xxxxx.xxxxx.xxxxx CC: xxx.xxx.xxx This is working. Ctrl D I've checked logs: /var/log/mail.log, /var/log/mail-err.log. I've checked the koha logs. Nothing seems to show that there has been an attempt to send email from Koha. Postfix does show it it is running. I've check my processes and Postfix show up and is monitoring port 25. I am using a relay that we used on the old server and it works. I've checked crontab to make sure that the koha messing queue is working. I've checked the settings to make sure the Enhanced Messaging Preferences are turned on. Is there somewhere I need to go to turn on email in Koha? I did notice that each Patron Category has "none" under the messaging. I also notice that I can not turn on "item due" or "advanced notice" as they have a dash. Am I correct in assuming that this messaging category is by default on? Any clarification of how to determine if Koha is in fact setup to send email would be appreciated including steps to set it up. Thanks Phillip

Not sure if you all saw this: http://ils.foss4lib.org but it's comparing Koha 3.10 to Evergreen 2.4 - we should probably get it up to date since Koha is not 3 releases ahead and has many of the features it says it doesn't. Nicole

Nope, there is already a ticket open for it in trac, it seems to only happen when single branch mode is enabled. I am now trying to get rid of it with CSS but can't seem to target it, oh well. Regardng Koha search

Hi all, I upgraded the Koha database recently from 3.6 to 3.14 and again into 3.16. Koha is showing errors (mentioned below) during the search, maybe because of the upgrade, I guess. Software error: Can't call method "as_string" on an undefined value at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Koha.pm line 1608. Some of the keywords I used during the search are: account, business and accounting but while other keywords don't have problem. Any idea how to resolve this problem? Thank you. -- Dibyendra Hyoju

French specifics for Koha

I have offered to do an introductory training session for Koha in Vanuatu at the end of this month and I would appreciate any hints and tips specific to using Koha in a french speaking country. I have added french language support without issue but have no experience with importing records in french. Also, is there a publicly available Z39.50 server that would be useful.
