by Luís Oliveira 25 Nov '14

25 Nov '14

Dear Koha webmaster, We appreciate the registration of our company in the list of koha support providers, as requested. However, there is an error in the published data and therefore we ask you to do its correction, as soon as possible. Thus, the website link is wrong because it should point to the address www.folhaderosto.pt (our site) and it's not what happens now, as you can confirm. Best regards. Overdue notices
by CTS-Programmer 3 (Paul Dokken) 21 Nov '14

21 Nov '14

I now have check-in, checkout and advance notices working and thanks for all your help. I am trying to get overdue notices working now. It works for one branch but the other doesn't work. I run a report and it shows overdue items for both branches. I am using the -t flag on overdue_notices.pl but am not sure what it means. The documentation didn't make it clear to me either. Another think I don't understand is under Home > Tools > Notice triggers I cannot see all my letter templates in the letter drop down. I am using the generic Overdue Notice because it won't let me select the ones I have customized for each branch. Feedback on Bug 13290 -- Returning items from the checkouts table
by Owen Leonard 21 Nov '14

21 Nov '14

Bug 13290 (Add better feedback for returns to the checkouts table) modifies the way check-ins are handled when one uses the checkboxes on the circulation page's table of checkouts. I would like to get opinions on how to best design the interaction, especially from anyone out there who has the AJAX circ feature running in production. Thanks, Owen -- Web Developer Athens County Public Libraries http://www.myacpl.org

Built-in offline circulation tool
by Francois Charbonnier 20 Nov '14

20 Nov '14

Hello, I use Koha 3.14 and I tested the built-in offline circulation tool. After activating the feature and synchronized the database, I went offline and tried to accessed the offline page : http://my-installation.net/cgi-bin/koha/circ/offline.pl but firefox doesn't let me display it. It says it can't access http://my-installation.net/ I checked firefox preferences and it says that http://my-installation.net/ is authorized to stocked data on my computer for offline use. Is there something else I need to check/activate to make it work? Thanks a lot. A Road Map for Koha
by Bob Birchall 19 Nov '14

19 Nov '14

Until the release of Koha 3.2, the project maintained a Road Map which listed the features planned for the release. After 3.2 we switched from feature based releases to time based releases and the Road Map became less critical. Nonetheless road maps were produced for (at least) Koha 3.8 <cid:part1.06080905.05050701@calyx.net.au> and 3.12 <cid:part2.08030500.03020204@calyx.net.au>. On the sidelines of the KohaCon14 Hackfest, we had a discussion about the future of Koha and decided to propose to reintroduce the Road Map. This time an important difference will be that it is not time (release) based. The idea is to present a list of features that are planned for future releases, with just a couple of lines of description of each. Each heading can link to another page to provide a full RFC. Present in the discussion were Chris C, Paul P, Arnaud, Jonathan, Katrin, Brendan, Joy, Tomas, Bernardo and BobB. We agreed on the following proposal: 1. To maintain a road map for Koha - that is not time based. 2. The road map is to address both features and architecture. 3. The monthly general meeting following each major release will consider updates to the road map. 4. However maintenance of the road map can be a continuous process. This led to discussion of the state of the wiki and also to ways of promoting the project more broadly. (We noted some recent press releases from the major closed source companies, announcing features that have been in Koha since, in one example, 2000! So we felt its a problem that we don't promote more what Koha already does.) Therefore we propose two new roles in the community release team. These are roles that could be effectively filled by librarians (one for each role, or a team), allowing developers to keep developing. _Wiki Curator_ - a lot of work needs to be done to clean up the wiki; - could also participate (with some developers) in updating the wiki technology; - the role is not seen as a controller of wiki content or as being required to approve content, rather it is a curation task: moving stuff around, keeping it tidy, collaborating with the wiki contributors (So, looking at stuff and asking: Is this correct? Does it need to be updated? Should it be moved? Renamed? etc) _Communication Manager_ - promote the project and its achievements; - gather press releases and stories; - liaise closely with the newsletter editors (Chad and JD); - update the koha-community.org website; - send items to Marshall Breeding or other distribution sites; - write articles or twist the arms of others who might write articles. We'll seek endorsement of these ideas at an upcoming IRC General Meeting. Bob Birchall Calyx

A small gift from KohaCon14
by Tomas Cohen Arazi 19 Nov '14

19 Nov '14

KohaCon14 is past. We had a great time and were really happy to host it. This is a small gift we prepared for the community during that awesome week we shared. Hope you enjoy it :-D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHav6PL_4Bo The conference was possible because of the hard work of: Andrea Capdevila (comitee), Victoria Paganini (comitee), Gabriela Cuozzo (comitee), Lucas Yrusta (comitee), Roberto Cattaneo (comitee), Veronica Lencinas (comitee), Pablo Albertinazzi (design), Mel Quevedo (logistics), Magui Saal (photos / video), Pilar Vega (photos / video), Gustavo Spertino (logistics), Carlos Facciano (logistics), Ezequiel Gómez (logistics). We are especially grateful to the rector of UNC, Francisco Tamarit, for his unconditional support of KohaCon14 and the Koha project. Thanks everyone! Tomás and Bernardo
