Getting the shelf location to show in the OPAC
by Darla Grediagin 30 Mar '16

30 Mar '16

Good morning, I think I am ready to launch Koha for all the library personnel and users in my system. The newest problem that I found is that the shelf location doesn't show in the OPAC. The shelf browser does, but without a Dewey number or cutter letters for fiction, it would difficult to find the item. I have the shelf location in three different areas of the item information. It is in 952c, 952j, and 952o. Is there something I need to set in system preference. Koha version: 3.00.06.010 is the version I am using. Any help would be appreciated. by satishamv 30 Mar '16

30 Mar '16

Hi, My Koha (3.16) has been installed from packages method on ubuntu 12.4 LTS Desktop. I have to set huge number of items (various barcode) among many Records into Shelving location called = Reference Section. I mean, I have pick specified barcode (item) from each record to a shelving location called "Reference section". Previously, While entering bibliographic details, I did not set specific barcode(item) into location =referece section, and now the items are idenfied, which can be put in reference as per the library requirements, and now doing manually one by one will consume huge time, therefore, I request, Using SQL how to set following two conditions for the specific barcode (item) having barcode numbers from "1, 2, 3..to 100" set to: 1) 7- Not for Loan to "Not for Loan" (Previously this field is empty) 2) c-Shelving Location to " Reference section" (Previously this field was set to shelving location called "General Stock" Can koha community, please help me to save my time for doing this job using "sql" ?? thank you in advance, Satish MV Librarian Govt. Koha outdated call number in Location field
by Daniel Glendening 29 Mar '16

29 Mar '16

Hi, I'm trying to convert our small library from an old outdated call number system to Library of Congress. I've run into a strange situation: when I change the call number on a biblio record and item, for some reason the item won't show up with a catalog search of that call number. Strangely, it WILL show up with a catalog search of the OLD call number. Despite the old calll number not being present in any MARC or item record fields, when i run a search query it show up in the "Location" field, for example: "1 Resource Room <i>Resource Room Stacks M.AE4.2006</i> generic: "1 Library Name<i>Location Old-callnumber</i> Any idea why the new LCC call numbers are not searchable, or why this old call number won't go away? Thank you! Daniel

Replace all existing call numbers with LoC
by Daniel Glendening 28 Mar '16

28 Mar '16

Hi, I'm working on a restructuring of a small arts non-profit library. The library currently uses an esoteric, confusing custom catalog numbering system devised by a staff member who is no longer here. We'd like to switch all our records over to LoC cataloging. We currently are using Koha 3.18.05.100 - I'm curious if it's possible to replace all our records with LoC records, in bulk, rather than editing each individually. Thanks!
