Difference between 3.22 and 16.11
by Walsh, Daniel (British Council) 23 Feb '17

23 Feb '17

Dear Colleagues, We are currently upgrading KOHA across our libraries. Other than a change in naming convention, are there any technical differences between 3.22 and 16.11? Dear All Greetings !!! I have gone through the Koha OPAC of INSEAD Library, I notice that they have uploaded the Table of Contents (TOC) of the book which has fulltext indexing search. Search not working
by i.pratt＠zigzagee.com 22 Feb '17

22 Feb '17

Vanda, Just out of interest, did you choose UNIMARC when the package installation was performed ? I did and I'm facing the same search problems as you. I note the koha-conf.xml file seems to have a lot of MARC21 references. Not sure if this needs to change to UNIMARC. This was just the template file that was generated through the installation. I tried the koha-rebuild-zebra -f -a -b -v $instance approach recommended but that didn't fix the search problems. if you want to know where it is just use >which koha-rebuild-zebra Regards, Ian -- ________________________________________________ Dr. Ian Pratt B.Eng Ph.D C.Eng MIET MIEEE Director - ZigZagee Ltd. Summary: Koha Devel Meeting, 22 Februrary 2017
by Nick Clemens 22 Feb '17

22 Feb '17

Hi All, We had a productive dev meeting today, just wanted to highlight some of our discussions for the general list readers. If this seems useful I will try to send these updates after each dev meeting: The Onboarding tool <https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=17855> still needs more testing (see Jonathan's email here: http://lists.koha-community.org/pipermail/koha-devel/2017-February/043481.h…) This tool will make it easier for those setting up a new instance to enable necessary settings and configuration and generally make Koha setup more friendly. It was proposed as a possibility to roll the tool out in English first, and add other languages as they are tested. Ideally we would have as much testing as possible now. We will discuss and vote on how to move ahead at the next Developers meeting (8 March 2017, 19UTC) The ru-RU and uk-UA languages were discussed for possible removal as there has been no maintenance, if you are using these or interested in helping maintain (or have strong opinion) please let us know. Testing and QA teams can always use more help so let us know if you are interested. Other interesting notes: ElasticSearch dependencies are being packaged by Mirko Jonathan continues work on refactoring and moving things to the Koha namespace (see here <https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/showdependencygraph.cgi?id=16846> for Koha::Patron status) OverDrive integration has been pushed to master The next meeting will be 8 March 2017, 19UTC <https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Development_IRC_meeting_8_March_2017>, I hope to see you there.

Can Koha be configured for the following variable circulation rules?
by Raymund Delahunty 21 Feb '17

21 Feb '17

Environment: Six libraries at constituent colleges each with identical circulation rules. Maximum loans apply by user category (books and DVDs mainly). Maximum loans by user category apply university wide (so 15 items per undergraduate) and using system preference circcontrol as "the library the member is from" this works fine. Users are free to borrow from multiple libraries, up to the overall maximum loans count of 15. Our "Learning Zone" is a separate library in Koha- it loans only IT kit and is open 24 hours a day, often with only security staff (no library staff). New self-issue laptop loan units have been installed. Requirement: Configure Koha Circulation to allow users to borrow a laptop and other kit from the learning Zone, via self service as an ADDITIONAL entitlement, so users whose account is maxed out with books and audio equipment can still borrow a laptop via self-service kit. Progress to date: Not a lot. I have been unable to get this working, despite extensive testing. Initially I tried separate library circulation rules for Learning Zone and had the other 6 libraries as All Libraries, and my changes to circcontrol to "library the user is logged into" saw the laptops borrowable, but the 15 items became 15 per library, increasing the max-loans from 15 to 90 (6 times the 15 per college). That didn't make me too popular- but it did take some months for the problem to be noticed. I have re-imposed the circcontrol setting to "the library the member is from" to ensure sensible loans maxima, but now maxed out users can't borrow a laptop. There are no users registered at the Learning Zone as all users have a "home college" which is the library they are registered at. With the changes to circcontrol undone in our LIVE system I can continue to test out ideas in our TEST one before rolling them out to the live environment. In October my testing on **one** library plus the Learning Zone in TEST showed the desired functionality was perfect so I rolled it out to LIVE. I did not test multiple libraries and I should have. Any suggestions as to how I can set Koha up to offer what I have been asked to provide would be most appreciated. Converting to Koha 16.05 - some issues
by Sir_Charles82 20 Feb '17

20 Feb '17

Hello, as asked here before, we moved from Book2DB to Koha which was quite a quest as Book2DB is saving all information data set-based. So in every catalogued book there is also the signature saved. So I rebuid the exported *.csv-file to match MARCMaker as to make an *mrk and *mrc-file. I've tried to do my best to re-route all MARC-fields to the given scheme. text file is saved as ANSI. <http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/file/n5922009/Koha_Upgrade_Textdatei_aus_…> <http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/file/n5922009/Koha_Buecherliste_mrk.jpg> Although it seems to have worked so far, I have some troubles also. The search results look as following <http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/file/n5922009/Koha_Ergebnisliste.jpg> I'm not sure if this should look like this Also there were problems for the proper display of mutation signs. Not to mention that I have to move the signatures out of the 500 category to form single issues. Perhaps someone can look over the whole thing and I can tell me, if I have transformed it right or if I should re-import the database with other settings? Currently I have Koha 16.05 installed. I'm running OMV 2.0.21 (i.e Debian Wheezy) and the new Koha build isn't installing. If anyone want to look into it for yourself: http://koha.enne.at Searching without logging in is possible. I'm thankful for any assistance.
