Lost item refund

Hello everyone, My questions are for libraries who use the refund feature for returned lost items. Do you actually reimburse the money to the patron? If so, how do you enter that in Koha? Several libraries have brought this problem to me, and I can't figure out how to make it work in Koha. Here's what I've got right now : 1. (A very honest) User comes to the circ desk, and says they lost an item 2. I go to the item record and declare it lost 3. The replacement fee and processing fee are added to the patron's account 4. Later, the patron comes back with the item (they found it under the car seat, even though they swore they looked there before) 5. I "check in" the item 6. The replacement fee is credited to the user's account 7. I take the money from the cash register and give it back to them This is where I'm stumped. How do I tell Koha that this money is no longer in the cash register AND that this patron DOES NOT have a credit? I tried creating a manual invoice. This puts the balance at 0, but it says the user owes money, which is not true. Note that our libraries are still using 18.05. We haven't migrated them to 19.05 yet. I know the ability to use credits to pay for charges was added in 18.11. But I'm not even sure it answers their needs exactly... If you could share your procedures, I would be very grateful! Floating collection: assigning home branch

I'd like to request some help from multi-branch systems that float their collections. - How do you decide which branch to send new copies of books to? Reports? Est. shelf space? - Procedure: what does the process look like? - Does your technical processing/cataloging dept. assign the "home branch" or does the receiving branch? Thank you! Library Summary / Stats - Report Page - Help

Dear All, I have a suggestion or expectation in koha regarding library summary. a default page dedicated to "library summary" which is in-built in koha (may be inside reports) and gives: 1. No.of Non Repetitive Titles (which means records) : 0000 2. No. of books (items): 0000 3. No. of books issued / checked out (as on date): 0000 4. No. of Active Patrons Cards: 0000 5. No. of De-activated/ Expired Patrons Cards: 0000 6. Total Expenditure on Books: 0000 (in respective currencies) "Example: http://eprints.iisc.ernet.in/ | Number of publications in the repository: 44108" Instead of running separate sql queries which are commonly needed, repetitive in requirements as a "*ready reference*", could be displayed in a single summary page or "about library", and this should not be created manually, and could be generated from the script itself. This also helps during library inspection committee visits, auditing takes place, whenever reporting is required for the stake holders, etc.. Hi, With Lubuntu 16.04 LTS + Koha 18.11.05 + MySQL + Installation by Package Method Still I am not able to upload plugins to Koha Throws the same error: *--* *Cannot unpack file to the plugins directory.Please verify that the Apache user can write to the plugins directory.* -- I tried permission with all possible names suggested in the reply ( like, www-data, koha-instance, root) , but no success. German community library project needs help

Hey there, i found out about koha several days ago and i am really impressed and would love to use it. Unfortunately i am not IT expert enough to do it by myself and i do not have a linux server yet. I would love to have some support the system up for a special case. I live in a network of villages that has close ties and we share a lot of things with one another. I wanted to create an online tool so private people in these villages can put their books in a database and offer them to be borought. It would be a decentralized library where you can browse the whole catalogue consisting of the books people insert in the database plus section for the place in which household this book can be found. It would be awesome if books can be put in the database by isbn number. I do have my own webpsace for several webpages and my question is if there is anybody who would help me with that? I suggest that you have a look at LibraryThing's TinyCat <https://www.librarycat.org/>, a product that is aimed at small libraries. Because it is browser-based, no additional hardware is necessary and the technical management is minimal. In your situation as you describe it, building a bibliographic database in Koha could be challenging. Because LibraryThing already has amassed a large database and also has the facilities to import from many other databases, data entry in your distributed situation would, I expect, be more manageable. Superlibrarian cannot override non-renewables

Our superlibrarians cannot override items listed as non-renewable. We have set the following preferences: AllowRenewalLimitOverride: Allow RestrictionBlockRenewing: Allow Koha: 18.11 I thought i've read something about an initial setup being incorrectly installed as a solution, but i now can't find the post.
