I'd attempted an item search for items marked withdrawn. I added an item search field (Home › Administration › Item search fields) to search on 952 $0 using the authorised values for withdrawn. But when I run a search using that field, it turns up nothing. I know there are at least 11 items in the catalogue marked withdrawn (trying to double check I'm not missing any). I've run a similar search using built in search fields and it works fine. I did make sure the home library was chosen. Thoughts? Has anyone successfully used a custom search field? And what happens to those holds once they are cancelled? Will they trigger the next hold, if there is one, or transfer back home? One of the reasons we don't use this tool is that it is slow. Another is that it doesn't trigger to go home or to the next hold. For those reasons, we find no compelling reason to use it. We just check the item in, cancel the expired hold, and then check it in again to trigger any pending actions. This is much faster at this point. Barcode Rejection Due to Miscalculated Check Digit

Hello, all! My library will soon upload a lot of records (bibliographic with item records) into its Koha ILS. We have observed through experimentation that if the check digit of a barcode does not compute according to one of the standard modular arithmetic formulas, the item record is rejected. Not just the barcode, rather the entire item record. Mind you, the bibliographic record makes it in, but the item record with the miscalculated check digit does not. If the barcode is not in the item data but the rest of the item data are, the item record will make it into the ILS. Is there a way to suspend the check-digit calculation during the uploading process, e.g., a preference/option/setting called something like BarcodeDigitCheck? Mind you, my staff and I can type in the barcodes and we may use this for an inventory check -- pardon the pun. Thanks for your help, all. -- -- Charles. Koha installation woes

Hi folks We're trying to set up a little test server on our own: I'm following the instructions on https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Debian and we have a little server running Debian Stretch. We've hit a wall: We've done the following: added the apt key, installed the apt sources.list for oldstable, installed koha-common (apt-get update && apt-get install koha-common), installed MySQL (apt-get install mysql-server), enabled the 'rewrite' and 'cgi' modules for Apache2 and restarted Apache2, edited /etc/koha/koha-sites.conf as follows: DOMAIN=".myDNSname.org" INTRAPORT="8080" INTRAPREFIX="" INTRASUFFIX="" OPACPORT="80" OPACPREFIX="" OPACSUFFIX="" DEFAULTSQL="" ZEBRA_MARC_FORMAT="marc21" ZEBRA_LANGUAGE="en" USE_MEMCACHED="yes" MEMCACHED_SERVERS="127.0.0.1:11211" MEMCACHED_PREFIX="koha_" (so we're configuring for IP address access), Used koha-create to set up the virtual hosts and empty database (koha-create --create-db dmltest), And this is where we've hit the wall. We can't seem to access the Koha installer: Pointing a browser to port 80 of the address gives us the Apache test page, and pointing to port 8080 gives us (on Chrome) error ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE Can anyone point us to where we've gone wrong? Deny staff patrons permission to check in items issued to them.

Hi, Staff in the library are allowed to borrow upto 5 items. Either junior books or adult books. 1. Is there a way in koha to allow only a particular staff like the chief librarian to checkin or checkout items to the staff and deny anyother person from doing it and also ensure staff donot checkin items issued to them. 2. We are creating a new item type- Laptops and tablets and would like tgem issued by a particular staff e.g. I.T. clerk. How can we set this in koha?. We are using koha version 17.05 Regards. Indexing problem

Hello All, I have records in the Koha with biblionumber and biblionumber fields mapped to 090$c and 090$d marc fields. BIBLIONUMBER in : 090$c BIBLIOITEMNUMBER in : 090$d I couldn't index the records as these fields have not been set up properly in the record.abs file. Could anyone provide me the configuration that I have to add on the "record.abs" file to index the records properly? I'd appreciate it. The indexing reports following problem: zebraidx(20053) [warn] Record didn't contain match fields in (bib1,Local-number) Thank you. Best regards, Dibyendra Hyoju

How to flag a warning if item of certain Koha item type is returned?

No titles in search result in staff interface (intranet)

Hello, when I search in the backend / intranet the titles of a book are not displayed in the result list. It does work in the OPAC. biblio.title is mapped to 245a. Any ideas how to debug that problem? Best Regards, Stephan
