[koha] Edited barcodes not saving

Hi team, We have been editing our items and replacing the barcode field with a new one. Over the last few days, the new barcode is not saving i.e. after saving the old number is still showing instead of the new one. This is really stressing us up. Please help me resolve this. SIP, Envisionware's PC Reservation, and failed login attempts

Hi all, I've stumbled upon an issue with my library's setup involving Koha 18.11.10 and Envisionware's PC Reservation, but I'm not sure if it's a bug or a misconfiguration on our part. If anyone has any tips or feedback, I'd really appreciate it! We use SIP to authenticate patrons who wish to create a computer session via PC Reservation. We also have the Koha FailedLoginAttempts preference set so that an account is locked after X failed login attempts. But I'm noticing that the borrowers.login_attempts field is increased by 1 each time a user logs on to our public computers even if the login is successful on the first attempt. That is, when I create a computer session successfully, the login_attempts count in the borrowers table is increased regardless. I noticed this after doing maintenance on several computers that required me to log in via PC Reservation. When I went to log in to the staff client later, my account had been locked out. Hi James Circulation in koha (more specifically checkout aka issue) is controlled via a combination of 3 parameters: the branch, the borrower category and the itemtype. Library staff level operational granularity is not a function of Koha at the moment. Deny staff patrons permission to check in items issued to them.

Hello team, Our library staff are allowed to borrow upto 5 items. Either junior books or adult books. We are looking for setting in koha that only allows the chief librarian ability to checkin or checkout items to the staff patrons and deny any other staff from doing it. We also want to ensure that staff donot checkin items issued to them. We also are in the process of introducing a new item type- Laptops and tablets and would like them issued by a particular staff e.g. I.T. clerk. How can we set this in koha?. We are using koha version 17.05 Someone please help. Warm regards. James

Restricting access to files attached to bibliographic records

Hello, Is it possible to restrict access to files attached to bibliographic records based on patron category? We have a professor who wants to put a print journal on course reserve. It is a loose issue that is coming unbound, and I'm not comfortable in allowing it to circulate as a course reserve. It is covered under copyright and we do not have access to it through one of our full-text databases. One option is to simply scan the article the professor wants to use and make it available to students within the course management system. However, I was thinking that it would be helpful for the library to keep the scan in its collection for long-term preservation purposes. I was looking at a way to do this within Koha using an analytic (child) record and attaching the scan file to that record. Since it is under copyright, however, I would need to restrict access to the file to only faculty and students who are logged in to Koha. A compromise might be to restrict access to the file in Koha to only library staff (i.e., viewable in staff client only, if that's possible). Then the file could be shared with students through the course management system. Is it possible to use the upload files plugin in this way? How are other libraries managing preservation copies of texts that are protected by copyright? Any suggestions or other ideas are appreciated.
