'You have no items on issue'

Good day! The program is responding very well to all tests I've run. That said, I do get one message that (I assume) should say something different. When I sign books out to a patron, and then log on the opac site as that patron, I get a message that says "You have no items on issue." In the intranet site, the issued items are listed, so the value is indeed stored in mysql. I assume that the message should list the books that are currently on issue. Is my assumption correct? Dear Readers, My voluntary ORG is thinking about using KOHA for our library, which is using a non-dewey catalogueing system which is using Filemaker Pro. We have about 5500 records. I am not able to tell you about what is missing viz. the technical error you are getting, but as a frequent user of AMICUS I would note that one can sometimes have problems when searching by ISBN. I have never found an adequate explanation, as, when I have located desired records, they often have ISBNs entered correctly. That might well indicate an AMICUS glitch. Once you get a technical answer to your error message, if you still are missing records by ISBN search, it would be worthwhile trying title search or title browse search just to make sure. Sunday, June 12, 2005 21:29 CDT Hi, Richard, You might find that the Z39.50 script has trouble with the LC server; this has been noted as a cause of frustration before. Also, you might find that it is more difficult to retrieve the correct record via LCCN search (010): the coding standards actually change the number from what would see in CIP. For example, CIP listing 85-16296 (Little myth marker / Robert Asprin) is coded thus (using | to indicate blank space): 010 || $a|||85016296 Even when entered correctly, there can be false negative results in searching by LCCN. For older items, it is often worthwhile searching individually to ensure that you are finding the correct record; if you are trying to keep your catalogue up-to-date with standards, you will need to make corrections in many older records anyway. It is working very well, except for one problem. I have lots of books that are more than 50 years old, and therefore do not have an ISBN number. Those books have a marc record in the Library of the Congress, but the Z3950 does not find them, even looking for the Library of the Congress control number. So, I do not know why the Z3950 cannot download a record that does not have an ISBN number, although I am searching by another field (in this case the LC control number). Thanks a lot! development of MARC functionality

Hi all, I've been reading your notes about the future development of Koha, and it sounds pretty exciting. You've thought of some very nice features to add. I see that some people's duties are changing, and I'm wondering who are the key people working on MARC improvements, and if more details about the roadmap for the MARC portions of Koha is posted somewhere? Stop me if you know this already, but I think that since the MARC structure has so much functionality already built into it, why not take advantage of that? For example, using the indicators to help with indexing will solve the display sorting problem with titles that start with "The". Using the leader/fixed fields for item types, is another example of using fields already built into the MARC record. And, of course, the multiple subject headings issue needs to be resolved. I am stuck in my implementation of Koha because, although there is the ability to assign call numbers at the item level, the opac display (except for MARC view) is that of the bib level call number. Can the opac-detail templates/script be redone so that the info is pulled from the MARC record? Sorry, I just don't know how to get past this problem; it's the one thing keeping me from going live with the catalog at our library. I appreciate all the hard work you all do. I'd like to help, if I can. I'm a cataloger (is that obvious?) and a solo librarian, I know enough perl to be dangerous (which is probably not a good thing). Well, that's my 2 cents. Parameters page blank after changing "insecure" to "yes"

Hi all, I'm using koha 2.2. I changed the "insecure" property in Parameters page to "yes", but after I changed it, no more parameters were accessible from the Parameters page itself. It became blank. Installing KOHA - MySQL Error

Hi there, When I go to install KOHA and do the # mysqladmin -u root -h koha.athenscounty.lib.oh.us password 'new-password' I get the error that my IP address is blocked. THe reason for this is that my firewall blocks all ports and 3306 wasn't open so I suspect it was banging away on this SQL database and it has now locked me out. Is there anyway that I can get my host unlocked and be able to do the rest of the install. adding another subject entry

hi guys, our librarians notice that if there are 3 subject added entry to be encoded for a biblio record,if you click the plus (+) sign it doubles the existing textbox for the said tag/subfield. if you had encoded 2 subject added entry and want to add another suppose you have 3 subject added entry, clicking the plus(+) sign gives you 4 textboxes... is it a bug? another thing, can i increase the title (biblio table)size? what's the current size setup? when i check it out, i has no length/size but the data type is text....
