Upgrade from 2.2.5 to 2.2.8

Hi all, We are looking to upgrade our installation of Koha (http://library.afbrisbane.com) from 2.2.5 to 2.2.8, mainly for the different Z39.50 process that came in version 2.2.7. I was wondering if I should expect any problems (apart from what is in the release notes - yes I have read them :) ) or if anyone here had had any problems upgrading from some older version to 2.2.8? Just trying to collect as much information as I can before going ahead with the upgrade. Thanks, Greg

Hi Jim, i'll forward your suggestion to the Koha lists (regular and developer). It sounds like a good idea, and we've had Koha easier to install in the past as part of Debian, but of course every time Koha changes you have to do a new one. I suspect all the project needs to do this, is someone keen to do it. MARC Check error

Hello, I am working on getting setup and have been going through the parameters. In the MARC Check everything is ok, except the items fields test indicates All Items fields must be mapped to the same tag, and they must all be in the 10 (items) tab. import records help

Hi, I've created a command line script for quick copy cataloging. It works for my goals and workflow. I'm cataloging a small collection and want to do it quickly while choosing a good record. I hope after a little testing and code cleaning to release it as someone else might benefit from it. One thing I'd like to do with it is have the option to insert records immediately into the Koha database. Right now I'm mainly concerned with rel_2_2 and 2.2.8 more specifically. I'd prefer using a system call out to bulkmarcimport.pl or something already part of the Koha distribution that will continue to be maintained by someone else. Currently I have to run bulkmarcimport.pl as root. Is there any way to allow authentication for a user with proper permissions to run bulkmarcimport? How else could I go about this? Inserting the record into the reservoir would be OK but that seems to chop off some item level information I attach to the records. Thanks for any help or leads you might have. --Jason

expiry & joining dates problem

Hello all, 1st of all, I don't read this list usually : I already have to take care of the french ml, sorry. But that means you must, when you find a bug (and ppl on this list confirm they have the same problem), either : - report the bug to koha-devel mailing list - fill a bug on bugs.koha.org otherwise, I (2.2 Release Maintainer) may/will probably miss it. Fortunatly, french libraries had the problem as well, so I was aware it exist. it is fixed in CVS and will be in 2.2.9 version, that I plan to release this week. 2.2.8 - MinPasswordLength syspref bug

Just a heads up to anyone running 2.2.8 that there's a small bug that will prevent changing the MinPasswordLength in system preferences. In /scripts/updater/updatedatabase the following section makes the modifications to the database: { uniquefieldrequired => 'variable', variable => 'MinPasswordLength', value => '5', forceupdate => { 'explanation' => 1, 'type' => 1 }, explanation => "Minimum length for patron passwords", type => 'YesNo', value =>5, }, The bug is caused by the type being set to YesNo. If you try to change the value of this preference you'll get a 500 Internal Server Error and the following in the error log: [Sun Apr 29 11:11:38 2007] [error] [client 172.16.1.10] Premature end of script headers: /var/www/koha/intranet/cgi-bin/admin/systempreferences.pl The given value does not seem to be interpretable as a Boolean value at /var/www/koha/intranet/modules/C4/Boolean.pm line 104. I fixed it by changing and rerunning the update script but you could also modify the database directly. 1) In the section of /scripts/updater/updatedatabase quoted above change the line: type => 'YesNo', TO type => 'Integer', 2) Set environment variables export KOHA_CONF=/path/to/koha.conf export PERL5LIB=/path/to/koha/intranet/modules 3) Run the update script perl updatedatabase Mike D.

Repeatable MARC tags

I recently installed Koha 2.2.7 for Windows. I have encountered a problem with the MARC tags which are set to be repeatable in the biblio framework. When I click on the sign to repeat the tag, nothing happens. The repeatable subfields are working fine. Does anybody have a solution to this? Mary
