Chris Cormack wins award at NZ Open Source Awards

Hi Everyone, Firstly, please excuse the cross posting. I am very pleased to announce that Chris Cormack, the current Koha QA Manager and former release manager for V1.2, won the Open Source Contributor Award at the first ever New Zealand Open Source Awards last night. The award recognizes Chris' tireless, ongoing effort working on the Koha project. Koha was also a finalist in the projects category. Chris accepted the award in his normal humble style, making a point of thanking everyone else involved. It was a great evening, with Koha getting mentioned several times, including a mention by the New Zealand Minister for ICT. Congratulations to Chris! Customizing the look of Koha (questions)

OK... Now I have it running... I have two questions... How do I remove the Branch in the default setup? There was a branch already installed and can't remove it... it says it is being used... How do I create a whole new database/set of files for Koha to use so I can start from scratch... Also... how do I modify the look of KOHA... Specifically the colors of the OPAC page and putting our school logo on the page... Z39.50 Windows Problem Solved!!!!!

Its not the firewall.... the proxy or the ports.... Its the new intranet interface.... switch back to the old green one and I'm searching now.... got this from a fellow user and it works like a charm now... "We discovered that we couldn't be using the npl template. We had to switch back to the original lime green template for it to work. Something in the code is buggy with npl template. Perhaps try that. Well, If your Koha admin section is that vivid lime green color, that's the original template. It should be there by default. Go to the System Preferences-Intranet section. Then switch the template setting from whatever it is now to 'default'. Hope it works for you. asai" MUCH THANKS ASAI!!!!! YES!!!! Z39.50 Problems

Hi everyone, I have Koha seemingly working (2.2.9), but the Z39.50 search function does not seem to be working. I set up the Library of Congress server according to the information provided on the LOC Z39.50 web site, but I receive a HTTP 500 error after a long delay. Koha live in Samoa

Kohaers, I've got good news and I've got bad news. First the good news, Koha is live at the Nelson Memorial Public Library in Apia, Samoa at http://www.nelsonlibrary.ws/ The bad news is that advanced searches by publication date do not work even though the pub dates are loaded in 260c (feel free to look at the complete records in the opac to confirm this). Any ideas? This install is on debian etch with mysql 5 and koha 2.2.9 with all of the perl code from cvs as of about September 10, 2007. error in installing perl module...

hi..i am Reegal... I am trying to install koha on ubuntu6.06 When i tried to install remaining perl module and run this command.... sudo perl -MCPAN -e 'install "Net::Z3950"'... Then it shows me an following error... *** ERROR! ZOOM-Perl requires at least version 2.1.50 of YAZ, but is currently you only have version 2.1.8. Running make test Make had some problems, maybe interrupted? Won't test Running make install Make had some problems, maybe interrupted? Cataloguing Music CDs in Koha?

Hi This is a general question on behalf of the Nottingham University CD and Record library (http://www.nurl.co.uk) We are an established student run CD lending library and are interested in using Koha to keep track of our catalogue/lending. Having successfully installed Koha_2.2.9 on Debian Etch with mysql_5.0.32 it seems to offer much of the functionality we require. However, as seems to be the case with many posts, not being from a library background we struggle to fully understand the MARC record structure. The system will be stand alone and We don't foresee any need for our database to interact with any other library databases. So my main question is about the cataloguing of music CDs within Koha and MARC framework. Are there any existing users of Koha who have experience in cataloguing music CDs? Is there a recognised method or existing MARC structure we should use rather than having to define our own? After a quite exhaustive search on the subject the nearest I could find was a Library of Congress site that shows an example of the MARC structure for a digital recording: http://www.loc.gov/marc/bibliographic/sound.html Should we use a MARC based structure on this, or is there a better approach?
