Calculating fines?

Hello. In testing Koha 3.0 alpha, I have a user who has checked out a book which is now overdue by 3 weeks. According to the overdue/fine rules, he should be getting charged $0.25/day in overdue fines, but when he logs into his account it shows the overdue book in red but displays "No" in the fines column. Looking for some documentation, I stumbled across a mention of a cron job to calculate fines, at least back in Koha 2.2.x . Assuming it's still done that way, I hunted around the Koha tree and found these likely candidates: <koharoot>/bin/fines.pl <koharoot>/bin/fines2.pl <koharoot>/bin/cronjobs/fines2.pl <koharoot>/bin/cronjobs/fines-sanop.pl My questions are: 1) All 4 of these scripts say "This script is meant to be run nightly out of cron". Which of these should I actually setup to run nightly? 2) Why is a cronjob even necessary? i.e. why can't Koha look at today's date and the books' due dates, then calculate on the fly what the overdue fines are whenever the patron or librarian pulls up a record within the OPAC? Thanks.

Instale Koha Windows en una PC pórtatil con fines de demostración. He notado que al realizar una búsqueda en distintos servidores Z39.50 e intentar recuperar títulos (registros) en idioma español, los caracteres acentuados y las letras tales como "ñ", etc aparecen con signos raros dificultando posteriormente su recuperación en el OPAC. Al instalar MySQL 5.x elegí el set de caracteres UTF8 y en Koha, en paramétros del sistema tambien elegí UTF8. La configuración de mi sistema es la siguiente: Windows XP SP2 en español Apache 2.x Active perl 5.x MySQL 5.x Koha windows 2.2.9 -Podría alguien ayudarme a configurar mi sistema para poder ingresar y visualizar correctamente la información recuperada de los servidores Z39.50 -Podria alguien indicarme si existe ya una traducción completa de Koha 2.2.9 en español y donde obtenerla. Hi Karina, The default login for a windows install of koha is koha/koha. An install package is available for 2.2.9, and I suggest you use that if possible. The default kohaadmin password is controlled in the XML file referenced by KOHA_CONF, default "koha-conf.xml". Thank you! I have successfully done that and now it is asking me for card number and password…I am sure I must have done this along the way except I’m not sure which card number or password it is asking me to give. Is it during the Apache set up or Koha set up? Sorry to sound ignorant…do I need to set everything up again in order to get the card number and password? Removing a field from a biblio in Koha 3

Greetings, In the cataloguing interface, when a field is repeatable you get a '+' sign next to the field, which you can happily click and repeat the field. This also reflects on the marc blob. But now I can't find a way to delete the field in the editor -- even if it has no data, it keeps showing up. What I did now was to fiddle with the marc blob for the biblionumber and delete the MARC references to the repeated, data-less field, but I don't think this is the right way. Is there anything in development regarding this issue? Thanks for your time, Jose
