Re: [Koha] Setting Biblio Data Parameters
Hi Karina, I'm about where you are in setting up 2.2.9. The Authorized Values are basically a menu of terms provided for the cataloger. You create them in the "Authorized Values" admin page (under Parameters) -- just click "add category" to get started. For instance, I've created one for the 952 1 field for Lost items (titled "LOST"), and added "Lost" and "Missing," so that the cataloger can't just type anything in. And another category for the 952 2 field (titled "SCHEME"), for which classification system used: our home system, or Lib of Congress....they're going to be different from your thesaurus. I had to re-read the section in the Users Guide several times to get this, and just played around with it until it made sense, so just be patient! Best, Jennifer

As for the Authorised Value, is that the same as creating a MARC Authority Record? Do I set that up in the Thesaurus Structure or Authorised Values? Excuse my ignorance but I just dont know what to put where. Surely, Ill stumble into it somewhere somehow (??). About the Authorised Values , if you are begining, you can build your authority file according you are entering new registers in your database... Please define the composition of every authority file.... of personal name, serie, descriptors, etc. Then, step by step you have an own authority files.... regards homero Karina Tumon <karinatumon@den.org.au> escribió: Hi everyone, Im stuck with setting up the MARC framework (V.2.2.9) Ill be creating a monograph framework, which will contain the following fields: 000, 001, 003, 005,008, 010, 015, 020, 035, 040 and so on. Is it safe to delete the other fields that I will not need in this particular framework? Also, does anyone know of a subject authority list that I can download for free? And*is it important to set up the Authorised Values at this initial stage? Or can that be done later when I become more familiarize with Koha? If I dont set up the Authorised Values now, would that throw everything out of whack? Ive read the low down on Authorised Values but still not quite sure. Sorry* Thanking you all in advance, Karina Tumon _______________________________________________ Koha mailing list Koha@lists.katipo.co.nz http://lists.katipo.co.nz/mailman/listinfo/koha _____ ¡Capacidad ilimitada de almacenamiento en tu correo!
