Migration issues

Hi I'm in the process of evaluating Koha with a view to migrating our old Inmagic/Progress system to it in the new year. I've got a Win version of 2.2.9 up and running, on which I understand the z39.5 client doesn't work. I was wondering if anyone has any experiences they'd be willing to share on migrating to Koha. My first thought is that I'll need to map the fields in my Progress DB to the relevant table/field in MySQL as I don't have the data in a MARC format at present and the MARC export feature on the legacy system no longer works. Or would it be better to wait for v3 on Windows and hope z39 works, export ISBN and title from the current system and use z39 to create new biblio records, then adding the item records (somehow). I've no experience of Linux so don't really want to go down that route and have 50,000 records so want to keep manual intervention to just quality checking if possible. I'm probably looking at waiting for v3 anyway as I'll need to have journal routing as an option. I could pay someone to do the conversion but where's the fun in that!!%-| Any ideas/help appreciated! problem regarding Net::Z3950::ZOOM 1.25 installation

Dear List, I am using ubuntu 8.04 for koha 3 installation. I am getting error during installation of Net::Z3950::Zoom installation showing only 43.96% okay. I am accessing internet through proxy server, due to this I am getting the error or there may be another cause . How to overcome from this problem? I am trying to install this modules since last 3 months, but I am not getting. Am I missing some prerequisite perl module prior to installation of Z3950::ZOOM ? which specific yaz client is needed for Net::Z3950::ZOOM installtion? Printing labels

Does anyone print batches of spine and/or card and pocket labels from Koha records? If so, we would be very grateful for any information on what has worked best for you, particularly in terms of label brands and sizes, templates and layouts. For spine labels we intend using just the full call number. On card and pocket labels, we will use author, title and call number. Any advice would be more than welcome! eDIRECTORY and LDAP?

How to configure z39.50 on a server running behind proxy

I am trying to install and configure KOHA for my institute. My server is on a private network and the internet is accessible only thru PROXY. I am not able to search thru z39.50 servers in KOHA application. Please help Ravindra

Lets see if I understand this correctly: Your library is part of a regional library consortium in Kansas, a subset of all the libraries in Kansas. This consortium shares one Koha-installation, with all the libraries in the consortium set up as (independent?) "branches" within the installation, and you lend books to each other through Koha. This is your preffered mode for ILL. If a book is not found in your consortial Koha, patrons are directed to the "Kansas Library Catalog" which runs on a system called AGent, provided by Auto-Graphics Inc., and this is the "standalone statewide ILL system", a kind of federated catalogue for all or most of the libraries in Kansas, with possibilities for patrons to register ILL requests? Koha 3 on Ubuntu 8.04 - "trapped fatal error"

Hello, I’ve installed Koha 3 on Ubuntu 8.04 with all pre-run tests reporting success. When I visit http://127.0.1.1:8080/, Koha redirects me to http://127.0.1.1:8080/cgi-bin/koha/installer/install.pl and gives this message: production mode - trapped fatal error The Koha error log (/var/log/koha/koha-error_log) shows this error followed by several others: [Fri Oct 10 16:03:40 2008] [error] [client 127.0.1.1] [Fri Oct 10 16:03:40 2008] install.pl: DBD::mysql::st execute failed: Table 'koha.language_subtag_registry' doesn't exist at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Languages.pm line 178. Languages.pm line 178 is trying to select * from table “language_subtag_registry”. The 'koha' database has no such table; in fact, there it has no tables at all. I’ve confirmed that my 'kohaadmin' user exists, has the correct password, and owns the 'koha' database with all permissions enabled. Any ideas? …Andy Giesler

Login questions

1. I have Koha set up with a single branch. When logging in to the intranet, I have achoice on the dropdown list between "My Library" and my branch name. What is the difference in logging in as one or the other? For that matter, what is the diference when logging in to different branches? And can I eliminate the "My Library" choice from the list"? 2. When I log in to the OPAC, in the upper right-hand corner I see: Welcome, | Log Out Does this mean that I am logged in as an anonymous user? To log in as a user, I must then log out and log back in. Is this how it's supposed to work? When I do log in, I see Welcome, Paul Yachnes | Log out. 3. I have singleBranchMode on. However, it doesn't seem to work as it should. For example, when I go to the Advanced Search page, I still have a choice on the dropdown list between "All Libraries" and my branch name. Or is this how it's supposed to work? I've seen others are having this problem but it wasn't clear on whether or not there was a solution. When I search by item type I always get zero results. I have authorized values in the itype column in the items table, but not in the biblioitems itemtype column. I added some manually to that column and still couldn't search by type.
