Yesterday I asked about exporting bib and item info from Horizon, and I decided the easiest thing to do was to add a new export target in Horizon that puts info in the 952 tag rather than in 949. Now I have mapped the proper subfields to the corresponding fields shown in the item MARC to KOHA table. My only problem is with Item Status. In Horizon each item has a status defined in a single place, Item_Status. This could include checked in, transit, bindery, damaged, etc. In Koha it looks as if these things do not all go into the same field, ie circulation status is in On Loan while lost status is in Item Lost, etc. How have others dealt with this when migrating data? advice on re-installing (in order to fix utf8 issues)?

Hello all, We have a mostly running Koha 3.00 installation that has had continuing problems with indexing failing due to the presence of wide characters in records. These wide characters seem to originate from both our imports of marc records and attempted imports of Z39.50 searches. I'm wondering if I should take advantage of the new 3.0.1 release to do a new install. We do not use zebra for indexing since we're a small library. This may have been a poor decision. Looking over this doc: http://wiki.koha.org/doku.php?id=encodingscratchpad and comparing it to our mysql database it looks as if the encoding is set up wrong. According to this doc: "You must create your Koha database after you set the character set defaults otherwise the database could be set to the wrong defaults " If I do a new install I will install on a different machine. We're using ubuntu now, but we can easily use a different Linux distro. I notice that the docs seem to be oriented toward fedora or debian. -- Please avoid sending me Word or PowerPoint attachments. question about invalid MARC authority type

Hello, in inspecting my newly installed KOHA, I ran across this: How do I change this invalid authority type to a valid one? I really have changed almost nothing on the system yet, so this error must've happened during installation? The IT guys have me set up for Unimarc records. Staff client logon problems

Hello All, I've installed Koha on a pc as a test. The install wasn't without it's own issues but I finally got that done. Now it's up. I can log on as a patron and I can logon as the administrator using the logon and password set during the installation of mysql. I can not however logon to a staff client as anything/anyone else. I've created a new user designated as staff but when I try to logon on to Koha, I can only get in as a patron (on port 80) but cannot log in at all as staff (on port 8080). I must have missed something. Do I have to set up staff logon's through mysql as I did with the administrator? If so how and with what permissions/grants. Thanks for any help you can provide. Errors trying to import records from Z39.50

I have Koha 3.0 on Ubuntu 8.04.1 While manual cataloguing works okay as well as importing MARC records from a file, we are unable to import "good" MARC records from Z39.50 servers 1) We can't import MARC records from a Z39.50 search. For e.g., i just search for "Great Expectations" from Library of Congress and attempt to import, and i get the error below. This error occurs for pretty much any book. Koha error The following fatal error has occurred: Can't call method "add_subfields" on an undefined value at /usr/share/koha/intranet/cgi-bin/cataloguing/addbiblio.pl line 141. Having problems with rebuils_nozebra.pl

Hi, I've tried to run the rebuild_nozebra.pl after importing some MARC records (because apparently I have to do this to get rid of the search error after importing records). The way I ran the script was in a terminal (Ubuntu 8.10) under a super admin user (I take this is how you are supposed to run the script?) and I recieved this error: "Can't locate C4/Context.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /etc/perl /usr/local/lib/perl/5.10.0 /usr/local/share/perl/5.10.0 /usr/lib/perl5 /usr/share/perl5 /usr/lib/perl/5.10 /usr/share/perl/5.10 /usr/local/lib/site_perl .) at /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_nozebra.pl line 3. 2.2.9 upgrade to 3.0 opac search issues

Hello all, I've just finished upgrading of koha 2.2.9 to 3.0. following the 22 to 30 guide on the wiki. >From the staff client, i can see my patrons, logon, catalog and do basic search. However OPAC search and advanced catalog search in staff client does not work. I am not using zebra i had run rebuild_nozebra.pl (several times) and set the nozebra system preferences. the rebuild_nozebra.pl ran and gave records done. installation of Z3950 gave some errors during install and i used force install for installation. i am running suse 11.0. thanks Olugbenga Adara Mobile: 234-803-3220288

Importing Item Information with Stage MARC Records For Import tool

Hello, I am very new to this. I have installed koha on a test server, and have played around with it a bit. I have been able to import marc records that I have exported from our Horizon system. The system can also export item information in a 949 tag. I know that I will need to set up corresponding item status, itypes, collections, etc. but once all of that is done, how do I tell koha how to translate the 949 info into item information?
