I was wondering if anyone was using MySQL Admin to work with the Koha DB? I have the Webmin package installed but can't seem to figure out how to restore a backup from it. My Koha install is on Ubuntu system and my workstation is Windows XP. Is anyone else in this situation or do you know how to restore from within the Webmin application? If you could pass your knowledge on that would be great! Thanks Ed Edward J. Hello all, I am testing Koha for possible implementation at our library. We are a Windows shop & while we intend to eventually deploy a Linux production server, we are currently in the testing phase of that project as well. I was able to successfully install Koha 2.2.9 on Windows Server 2003 using the instructions and distributions at the below listed URLs. http://wiki.koha.org/doku.php?id=kohawininstallation http://www.koha.rwjr.com/ A few questions: 1. Has anyone developed a windows installer (or documentation for a manual install) for Koha 3 on Windows Server 2003 or 2008 & IIS? 2. Is there a reasonably sized community of libraries running Koha on Windows? 3. How difficult can I expect it to be to migrate data from a Windows installation of Koha to a Linux installation ? Adding to the circulation template

Does anyone know how to add to the circulation template to add years to the "sticky due date" drop down menu? We have the kind with three drop down boxes: day, month, and year. The years stop with 2008. We're using Koha 2.2.3 on Linux with Mysql version 14.7 with Apache. Owen gave me some good information about this (Thanks, Owen!), but I'm not sure how to make the change yet. I have help from our computer technicians, but they are more familiar with Windows. Hi Eric & All, Thanks for all the responses. Unfortunately, within Apple's documentation it refers one to the Apache documentation <http://images.apple.com/server/macosx/docs/Web_Technologies_Admin_v10.5.pdf> so there's an integration gap between the two... I know its a path issue but can't figure out why none of my trys have worked (so far) the following archive does provide what's happening <http://lists.katipo.co.nz/public/koha/2006/009525.html> It seems for Mac OS X server the following syntax does work better # export PERLLIB=/usr/local/koha3/lib/ but wonder if I should use the Apache alias commands (within Server Admin) instead of SetEnvIf Request_URI KOHA_CONF "/etc/koha3/koha-conf.xml" SetEnvIf Request_URI PERLLIB "/usr/local/koha3/lib/" However, upon further review it looks like I'm missing a couple of libraries required by Perl - I have the current version of libxml2 (2.6.32) but my system only sees the default 2.6.16 and therefore XML::LibXSLT will not install because it's stated that I don't have Libxslt 1.1.18 (have 1.1.24) - some catch 22s - I will clean this up as my other variables - apparently - are also not staying set - which also seems to be the case with my @INC settings - as it does not stay set - even from shell to shell - so I need to make these permanent... I have already removed prior versions of Perl. I do not have a Mac here to test this though. Eric ---- Hi Don, My guess is that you koha-httpd.conf is missing some important stuff. The error you sent tell us that you probably don't have the following line. SetEnv PERL5LIB "/usr/share/Koha/lib" I don't know if you kept the koha-httpd.conf file created by Koha. If you did, just copy the lines you do not have in yours. If you don't, my suggestion would be to keep a copy your current .conf file, reinstall Koha and adjust the new .conf file. Let us know if this works! > >

KOHA3.01 install issue with@INC with MacOSXServer10.5.6

Hi All, Last spring I had installed Koha 2.2.9 onto a G5xserve running MacOSX server 10..4.11 and after some issue (mostly Perl lib issues) was able to get most features to work. Earlier this year, I was attempting to install Koha 3.0 stable on to the same G5Xserve (image) but was running into many issues (some perl, some Apache) and due to these issues decided to upgrade the system from Mac OS X Server 10.4.11 to 10.5.6 - I then noticed that Koha 3.0.1 stable was released and am now using this release. I've resolved many issues including those that I had with Apache (2.2), which apparently is running fine, but only after I manually created the site files via Server Admin, because the default koha-httpd.conf doesn't allow the webserver to run correctly. Now, however, my Koha webserver config page (localhost:8080) only displays the text of the mainpage.pl... running Perl at cli returns the following: ------ mpslib3:intranet root# /usr/local/bin/perl mainpage.pl Can't locate C4/Output.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/local/lib/perl5/5.10.0/darwin-2level /usr/local/lib/perl5/5.10.0 /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.10.0/darwin-2level /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.10.0 .) at mainpage.pl line 22. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at mainpage.pl line 22. ------ Apparently, Perl doesn't see the required file - since, I'm no Perl expert (do know about perldoc, etc), I did an internet search looking for how to add search parameters for @INC and this took me to Koha archives of 2006 - I looked through those archives, as well as the last 8 months of 2008 and all of through those of this year - I saw many ideas to try but didn't see any response that clearly explained what is happening...OS X Server does things a little different than the OSX Client - but underneath both - its unix - so, ultimately it's about what's the path, or what's the permission setting (etc). Server: Mac OS X Server 10.5.6, Apache 2.2, MySQL 5.1.24, Perl 5.10.0 -- this is the same Perl version used with Koha 2.2.9 but updated with additional Perl libs as required by Koha 3.0.1 or other perl module requirements. {Zebra: mpslib3:~ root# zebrasrv -f /private/etc/koha3/koha-conf.xml 00:18:49-09/03 [log] zebra_start 2.0.36 /etc/koha3/zebradb/zebra-biblios.cfg 00:18:49-09/03 [server] Adding dynamic listener on tcp:@:11001 id=3 00:18:49-09/03 [server] Starting server zebrasrv pid=878 } I was planning to check some other environment variables, vary location of the index.html location and perhaps re-run the Koha install-- would appreciate any additional ideas - hopefully an easy fix. barcode pdf corrupted

Dear All, I enable mod_perl in apache2 for koha, Everything works fine, but there is one problem that is "barcode.pdf" generated by Home › Tools › Labels always corrupted. it works fine before enabling mod_perl. Question about item types and overdue triggers

Hi: Lurker here. I've been researching the Overdue Notice /Status Triggers and I have a couple of questions. If anyone can share their experiences I would appreciate it. 1. Does anyone use the Advance Notice of Item Due and, if so, how do you make the system send the notice before the item is due? The field does not like negative numbers. 2. I noticed that the Demo database now has Item Types listed in the area that defines the "Defining default overdue actions" area. Is anyone using the notice triggers based on item type instead of patron type? Do you have to provide default information for both patron and item types in order to trigger notices? 3. Does the system automatically add every Patron and Item type to "Defining default overdue actions" page? Thanks for any information you can share. Heidi J. Hello, Just sharing my experience here. To configure mysql to support utf8 as default, init-connect='SET NAMES utf8' character-set-server=utf8 collation-server=utf8_general_ci character_set_client=utf8 With these, I get these as variables in mysql: mysql> show variables like "char%"; +--------------------------+----------------------------+ | Variable_name | Value | +--------------------------+----------------------------+ | character_set_client | latin1 | | character_set_connection | latin1 | | character_set_database | utf8 | | character_set_filesystem | binary | | character_set_results | latin1 | | character_set_server | utf8 | | character_set_system | utf8 | | character_sets_dir | /usr/share/mysql/charsets/ | +--------------------------+----------------------------+ 8 rows in set (0.00 sec) Further I added the following lines in /etc/mysql/my.cnf (in the respective stanzas as shown below): [client] default-character-set=utf8 [mysql] default-character-set=utf8 [mysqld_safe] default-character-set=utf8 [mysqld] default-character-set=utf8 and restarted mysql. I then got the following set variables in mysql (as root): mysql> show variables like "char%"; +--------------------------+----------------------------+ | Variable_name | Value | +--------------------------+----------------------------+ | character_set_client | utf8 | | character_set_connection | utf8 | | character_set_database | utf8 | | character_set_filesystem | binary | | character_set_results | utf8 | | character_set_server | utf8 | | character_set_system | utf8 | | character_sets_dir | /usr/share/mysql/charsets/ | +--------------------------+----------------------------+ 8 rows in set (0.01 sec) So looks like specifying the default char sets helped. If others have insights in to this, please share. I am not experienced in mysql so I do not know all the details about the factors affecting char sets in mysql in various situations. utf-8 character encodeing problem and serching of zebra indexing search

Hello all, We have running Koha 3.00 on centos operating system and we have some problems with indexing searching of of indic languages. It may be the presence of wide characters in records.
