Hi Owen, Any idea why my Koha install would not show the $b field in the title under the Normal view the way yours and Rachel's does? I noticed she is on a later release than I am. I installed the release marked stable last December. I notice there is a newer one marked stable on the download.koha.org page, though the links on the main site look like they need to be updated. Would having Zebra turned on make a difference? I am not using the Zebra engine at this time, but I thought that was about indexing and searching, not how the display would look. You can see our catalog here: http://65.100.25.84:7190/ This catalog is pretty much the Koha defaults. I did add some code to display the header, but all of that was done through the system preferences. No template mods were done. What about the "Koha Link" field under the Advanced Constraints for a subfield. My reading of this is that this is the link between the Koha DB fields and the MARC fields, but perhaps only for searching purposes not display. I haven't changed this as it looked to me like a one to one relationship, and I didn't want to point it away from 245$a. Anyway, that is why I thought the framework settings might be effecting this. Here's what I see in my OPAC (http://acpl.kohalibrary.com) With XSLT off, the search results screen shows 3 available and 6 checked out of one title. Clicking through to the detail screen shows 4 available and 2 checked out. I'm assuming those totals don't match up because we have the hidelostitems system preference turned on. http://myacpl.org/koha/examples/opac-searchresults-xslt-off.png With XSLT on, the search results screen shows 3 available, 3 checked out, and 3 lost. The detail screen still shows 4 available and 2 checked out. At least this time the number of lost items seems accurate, but why are the available and checked out numbers wrong? http://myacpl.org/koha/examples/opac-searchresults-xslt-on.png The other differences in the displays are equally frustrating, but I can't say for sure without more digging what differences are limitations of the program and what are shortcomings in the template design. For instance, I suspect the search term highlighting doesn't appear in the XSLT version because it's not possible. questions on record matching rules

Following up on some listserv discussion in mid-February, I'm trying to create some new record matching rules. I'm having trouble figuring out what to use for the "index" field. The delivered ISBN & ISSN match rules both use isbn as the index, but I've seen one other example where ISSN uses issn as the index. I also want to create rules for bib # (999|a) and LCCN. The only place I've found any index names anywhere is in the NoZebraIndexes syspref. If I use those names, it looks like 999 would be biblionumber (except that's spec'd as 999|c) and LCCN would be lccn. But we're using Zebra so those index names may be irrelevant anyway. Simplifying Koha records

Hi list, I was hoping someone could point me to information on how to set up Koha for a very small library. We have about 1500 books, and all users are employees, so we want all users to be able to take out books by themselves. My main problem so far is in the large amount of data I need to enter for each book. Currently the collection is indexed by a program that only stores author, title, publisher and year (and is not complete for all books). I have zero knowledge about MARC records and about 90% of the fields available for filling in. And I don't want to put too much time into learning about them either, since they don't seem necessary nor useful for such a small collection. At first I was under the impression Koha was suitable for small collections, but now that I've got it running I'm thinking I might have been wrong about that. Any help at all will be appreciated. Hi Doug, according to the "about Koha" link, we're on Koha version 3.01.00.001 which was installed October 2007 (Perl version: 5.008008, MySQL version: 14.12 Distrib 5.0.32, Apache version: Apache/2.2.3, Zebra version: 2.0.32). Could there be so subtle a change - 3.00.00.107 displays 245a & 3.01.00.001 displays 245a & b - between versions? It seems to me that if you go through the frameworks and define how fields are going to display, then it should display as defined. I’d turned XSLT on in hopes of resolving an PAC holdings/availability display issue and since it made no difference, figured I could return it to the original setting of off; doing so resolved the display issue - the connection is beyond me. Our PAC is very similar to http://catalogue.buttepubliclibrary.info/ except for the Refine Your Search box, cover images and 245 display of a, b & c on one line (ours displays on two lines – 245a & b, then 245c). I do not feel very helpful and I am sorry. If I think of anything over the weekend, I will email you. Rachel, Thanks for getting back to me, but now I am really confused. Our settings are the same as yours (at least those are), yet we don't see the $b field in the title. I must be missing something somewhere. We are on Koha version 3.00.00.107. I installed in December and have not installed anything since then. Are you on the same version? Or any other thoughts? Searching Authorities

Hi all Some time ago I imported some authority records using bulkauthimport into my Koha (witch I have set up unsing the defaults of the english installation). I did a rebuild_zebra.pl -a to build the zebra indexes. Searching a record I have some strange mistakes: I find the records using the point "Search main heading" but I don't find any using the other two possibilities (Search Authorities, Search all Headings). The same happends if I'm working on the biblio records and I try to connect a biblio record to the corresponding authority-record. I have to use the second possibility (Main entry) and can't use "Main entry (only $a)". I guess I'm missing some zebra-configuration. Any idea where to look? Beda
