Re: [Koha] Firefox on Windows XP and Koha
I had a similar problem with Koha 3.0.0 on FF3/WinXP (with no add-ons), but I noticed that the slowdown was progressive. In other words, the first few records seemed to process rather quickly after hitting the 'Save' button, but as more records were added, it got slower and slower. However, after 'Clearing private data' from FF's 'Tools' menu, everything sped up again. (Perhaps Koha was desperately looking for cached data?) Now I've set up my browser to clear all private data whenever I close it... Hope that helps! Most of the things do all right. But adding MARC-Records the Firefox takes about half a minute to save the record (and the harddisk is quite busy). Why is that so? I tried Safary and Google Chrome: those two don't show this behaviour. Also using Firefox with Linux (Ubuntu). I will try that (and report the result). I guess I have quite some private data :-)) Cheers Beda

That didn't help. Firefox keeps the harddisk very busy for about half a minute when I save a new or altered record. Cheers Beda

Have you try using Firebug? https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/addon/1843 -- Frédéric
We have a similar issue here and it now takes 55-60 seconds to get to the Item Edit screen after clicking to save changes to a MARC record. Very frustrating. Would love to hear some more ideas about what might be causing this. My recollection was that we were initially advised to use FF & not IE with Koha ... Are you running any odd extensions? Some of the extensions can interfere with *any* web page you load but certainly ones with heavy Javascript. Try to unload extensions, or better yet, uninstall Firefox completely, and delete all the information in the hidden files (application data). Then re-install Firefox fresh. Hate to bring this into it, but do you have any mal-ware hanging around in the Firefox? A scan might be a good idea also. Good Luck! -Darrell Ulm

I do my work on different workstations (I'm working at a school). Usually I install the firefox on these workstations myself because the standard browser is IE and that one doesn't work well with the staff interface. I have the same behaviour _everywhere_. Everything works nicely exept saving records. Cheers Beda

can you confirm that your problem doesnt exist using a different web browser? eg, IE, opera, safari, google-chrome etc....

I agree. Auto clear private data for Firefox. We have had to do this for Koha 2-Zoom but it is not a big deal. For the staff side Chrome works pretty well and is *fast* and there is a good chance our catalogers will use it for Koha 3. -Darrell Ulm
