Hey Doug, Joe and all, Many thanks for two helpful replies. The apache-based solution indeed seems satisfactory. Now the next question is: how to generate the right URLs ? Assume an existing MARC record. Suppose a librarian wants to attach an additional file to this record. A form is presented to her where she chooses the right format from a format list and types in the file to be attached to the record. Then the MARC record has to be updated with one more URL (e.g. 856$u). What in Koha would you guys modify to make such a procedure work ? Many thanks for your help ! Sébastien.

Can anyone tell me how I can disable/hide data entry fields on the new patron page? Also, is it possible to disable the multiple library locations feature so that I am only working with 1 default library? Thanks, Chris

I need a bit of a sanity check here before I get going and find myself in too much trouble. I would like to have 2 installations of koha on the same server. This would require two koha databases and two koha web directories. I would be doing some virtual hosting to accomplish this. Do I need two installations of zebra? I've looked at some of my old MARCs from Alice, and it looks like you can get item type/collection information from Alice's 245z, 995a or 995Z subfields, depending on your export format and how your catalogue and library are organised. Alternately, if the cataloguers consistently used the 300a (physical description subfield) you might be able to get useful item type info from there. On a side note, I found that MarcEdit's 'Tools/Custom Sort' menu item was really useful to get my records organised/separated before manipulation, especially where there weren't cleanly corresponding subfields. My mapping looked something like this (though yours might vary slightly): ALICE 995 ---> KOHA 952 DESCRIPTION $A or $j $o Shelf designation $y $p Barcode no. $D $g / $v Price $W $d Acq. date 021a 020a ISBN $y Koha itype $8 Koha ccode ? $0 Withdrawn (bool) ? $1 Lost (bool) ? $4 Damaged (bool) ? $7 Not-for-loan (bool) $b Sub-loc. (holding branch) $c Shelving loc. (int; LOC auth. val.) $2 Shelving scheme (ddc or lc) 040 (maybe) $a Location (home branch) For all of the rows where I didn't list a field/subfield on the Alice side of the chart, I used MarcEdit to assign the relevant values by sticking them onto the 952 field. Because I didn't import lost/withdrawn items, it made the assignment of several fields very easy. I suspect that Alice stores the values with that I marked with a ? in the 995 $E, $F, $H and/or $U fields... or perhaps one of these Alice subfields could contain a key value relating to a borrower? You should be able to tell with some further testing. Alternately, you could play around with the Koha-to-MARC mapping, but IMO I thought it better not to mess about too much with Koha's vanilla MARC framework. I'm happy to help with any further questions, as I know what a load of useless rubbish Alice is. I'm not immediately aware of a way to automate the process, though I suppose it could be done by writing some kind of script to manipulate Koha's 'issues' table. MARC import in Koha GUI

Dear all, I need to batch edit existing various 952 subtags, but *not* 952p Barcode (which would corrupt circulation I presume). I am not a Linux techie, and want to use the Tools feature, "MARC Import (managing batches)" but have been unsuccessful thus far. We use a matching rule that matches against Koha biblio, 999c (my previous question to the newsgroup). I've tried a variety of settings on the import, but always receive, "Number of items ignored because of duplicate barcode : 25" FYI, on this occasion I'm trying to batch edit 952c Shelving location, to changed items from one shelf to another.
