sample CSV File converted from a plain excel file
by Nadel Catura 03 Sep '09

03 Sep '09

As I have said days ago, Our school started its operations 7years ago. >From the time it has started, our library didn't use any of the Library Systems existing today. So our records are plainly saved and recorded in an Excel File. Yesterday, someone converted our excel file into a .mrk file. But I also want to learn how to do this on my own. I've read tutorials on doing so. Unfortunately, I can't follow the instructions given. Im a bit confused. I was just hoping if somebody can send me a sample csv file that is converted from the original excel file? Even if it consists only of 5-10 records. I just want to see the format of that CSV file for me to make one like that. Thanks very much! Hoping, Nadel

Amazon lookup script for Koha libraries
by Cab Vinton 03 Sep '09

03 Sep '09

We order most of our materials from Amazon, so I've been looking for a convenient way to tell if a book under consideration is in our catalog already. Greasemonkey & a custom user script fit the bill nicely: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748 http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/56847 A few caveats: Like most scripts, this one was designed to work with Firefox; I haven't explored getting it to work with other browsers. I'm not a JavaScript programmer -- this was adapted from others' work. Just a few lines would have to be changed to get the script to work with your catalog. It depends on the existence of ISBN for the item in question, so movies, older books, etc. would not work. Others have added all sorts of bells & whistles: xISBN lookups to search for related titles, custom messages based on the status of items (on order, on hold, etc.), ... just search the UserScripts site for Amazon + library. For a later date! Cheers, Cab Vinton, Director Sanbornton Public Library Sanbornton, NH

Koha Authentication with windows Active Directory
by Anselm Olweny 02 Sep '09

02 Sep '09

Hello to you all, I have installed koha in my institution library and would like patrons to login at the opac using their active directory accounts. I have followed the instructions in the Auth_with_ldap.pm file and made the necessary changes in the koha-conf.xml file. I have koha version 3.0100041, however when I login using a valid Active Directory account I get "You entered an incorrect username or password." in the opac. There are also no errors in both apache and koha error logs. I am kindly requesting for any assistance in making this work. I would appreciate help relating to what changes I may need to do in active directory as well or Auth_with_ldap.pm. I have attached a copy of my koha-conf.xml so that you may show me what am getting wrong. Stay well Anselm
