That is how it used to be - but we do have another level - a 'sub-budget' -- I do think Budget & then Fund makes sense since that was the language used before - but where does the 'sub-budget' go - does it become a 'sub-fund'? can't get zebra to index

I am working with the 3.2 alpha release from git://git.librarypolice.com/git/koha-rm.git and I can't seem to get Zebra to index. It will export the records and that is it, is there a way for me to get some more verbose or logging information to figure out what is going wrong? Budgets in 3.2 Acquisitions

Hi all, I am probably jumping the gun here, but I am trying to understand the logic behind the new acquisitions module so I can load in our budgets in the most effective way. I understand that a 'root budget' is for a fixed period of time, and has sub-budgets. So is the thinking that you would create 1 root budget for 2009-2010 financial year, and then sub-budgets within that for each spending area ie Fiction, LargePrint, DVDs etc. Or, would you create a Root Budget for 'Fiction 2009 - 2010', and then another for 'Largeprint 2009 - 2010' and then another for 'DVDs 2009 - 2010', and then add sub-budgets to those. So for example 'DVDs 2009-2010' could have sub-budgets for 'Adult DVDs', 'Teen DVDs' & 'Junior DVDs.' Cheers Jo.

Another Koha live cd from India. Dr. ARD Prasad announced an Ubuntu based live cd which contain Koha, Dspace, PKP Harvester and dbWiz. Here is the full view of announcement appeared in Digital Library Research Group. Dear All, If you are interested in a Ubuntu-9.10 based Livecd, pre-configured with 1) DSpace, 2) PKP Harvester (OAI harvester based search engine for digital repositories) 3) Koha, and 4) dbWiz (a federated search engine for online Journals/databases) You may download from http://sf.net/projects/liblivecd OR http://liblivecd/sf.net NOTE: Though sourceforge.net shows the size of the file as 712 MB, the actual size is 680 MB. After downloading the ISO file, you may cut a CD (700 MB capacity) as ISO file. DONOT copy the ISO file on to the CD!!! For people who never used a liveCD: Once you have the CD, you may boot your system with the CD. LiveCD will not write anything to your Hard Disk. You can work from the CD itself and try testing DSpace, PKP harvester, Koha, and dbWiz. If you wish to have the Ubuntu Operating system along with these Library related software, you may click the "Install Ubuntu-9.10" icon. Take more care while partitioning your hard disk. budget history

Is there a way I can look at a fund and see how much of it was spent for the last few years? I know I can get a list of how much was budgeted for that fund each year, but I don't see the history of how it was spent anywhere. Thanks. Hi everyone, I'm catching up on the mailing list and was happy to see Shirley Lew message about using both Koha & Evergreen for teaching library automation at the UBC Library School. I'm currently teaching "Managing Technologies in Libraries" at the Université de Montréal Lib. School. It's the only ALA-accredited program that gives an MIS in french. (École de bibliothéconomie et des sciences de l'information - EBSI) After spending 2 classes talking about what's an ILS, students get access to Koha and have to do some "real" library task with the system. Actually, Eric Begin and inLibro have been offering Koha to EBSI students for the last 4 years. Nice opportunity for students to get access to an ILS. BTW, I've also been working for inLibro as a librarian for the last month. I'll try to be more active on the list as soon as I get accustomed to Koha. Patrick M. Lozeau Librarian / inlibro.com

I picked those OPACs because they did not look like they were out of the box. 3.2 alpha tagged in Git

Hi, I have tagged v3.02.00-alpha in Git, thereby kicking off the alpha period for 3.2. The corresponding DB revision is 3.01.00.111; I'll switch the DBrev to 3.02.00.000 for the beta. I will prepare a tarball tomorrow. At this point, 3.2 is feature complete and development should now be in pure bugfixing mode. Only the following types of patches will be accepted for inclusion in 3.2, starting now: * bugfixes * translations, including a mechanism to translate the new system preference editor * documentation improvements * necessary forward ports to preserve enhancements that were added to 3.0.x but which were not submitted to HEAD. I reserve the release manager's prerogative to bring in a few more minor enhancement patches that have already been submitted, and also reserve the right to add in one more enhancement I promised a library - permitting bibs to be cataloged without requiring any use or generation of authority records. However, if that should prove too unstable, I will not consider that last enhancement a blocker for the general release of 3.2. At this point, my criteria for moving to beta are as follows: * all HEAD and 3.2 blocker bugs are resolved, recategorized, or intentionally targeted for 3.4. * we have proof of a clean upgrade path from 3.0.0 to 3.2.0. * we have proof of a clean upgrade path from 3.0.5/6 to 3.2.0 - because of the numerous functionality enhancements in the 3.0.x series, this upgrade path is definitely distinct from the path originating in 3.0.0. * we have a completely clean pass of all test cases on (at least) Debian Lenny. Regarding management of branches in git.koha.org repository, I intend to start a 3.2.x branch and have bugfixes patches flow from HEAD to 3.2.x. I recommend that patches meant for inclusion in 3.4 be applied to a new 3.4-future topic branch, but leave final word on that up to Chris. Translators can consider a soft string freeze to be in effect - string changes to fix en-US typos will be accepted, but by and large strings should now be stable. I'm working on full release notes, but notable improvements in 3.2 include but are not limited to: * A revamped acquisitions module * An improved system preference editor * Improved patron card and item label creator * email checkout slips * branch transfer limits * support for Syndetics, LibraryThing, and Babeltheque enhanced content * improvements in Koha's ability to express circulation policies As with any alpha release, 3.2-alpha is *not* recommend for use in a production environment.
