Advanced Search problems

Basic searches seem to go off without a problem, but advanced searches (where you specify that you're searching just for books or movies, etc.) bring up nothing. I'm not real KOHA savvy, so I'm sure I've just messed something up. Any ideas? Thanks! René

Kia ora tatou Hello everyone I've just joined the list so I'd like to introduce myself and my project, and I'd also like to say thanks everyone for all the archive posts that have helped me in my efforts so far while we are considering migrating from our current system at our multi-site library. I came across Koha a while ago when I wondered if there was an open source alternative to moving to another (unsatisfactory?) commercial system. It was a long road to get the go-ahead to try Koha out, but here I am with my first rough build. I've sorted setups, imported a few marc records, added some patrons, done some transactions and I *love* it, congratulations Koha community :-) I also have a question and here's the background: I've been stuck on why the opac wouldn't search when the staff client was searching fine, and this morning I fixed it thanks to inspiration from Scott Kushner, Erik Lewis and Chris Nighswonger's posts ("problem searching in opac"), plus a heap of luck stumbling across the right preference while looking for something else entirely: in the same way as having 'OpacSuppression' ON causes opac all searches to fail if you don't have any suppressed bibs, having 'hidelostitems' ON causes all opac searches to fail if you don't have any items marked as lost. So would it be useful to include something to this effect in the manual under 'hidelostitems'? If so, who do I submit it to? Jos

Duplicate Records Created When Importing Large Batch of Records into Koha

Hi, We thought we had successfully imported 2669 records into koha and had no problems bringing the records up when searching for them by title. Everything looked good, however while I was editing them I discovered half way through duplicates of each bib record. There is only one bib record but when I do a search on the title it brings up a duplicate record for each title. When we tried to un import to revert these staged records only the first 6 records reverted and the others remain imported. Does anyone know why this is happening and how we can fix this problem? Also how do we prevent duplicate copies in the future? Doing Makefile.PL in the koha directory, there are a number of missing dependencies, what directory do these go in if they are downloaded from CPAN?

3.2 Install Patron Issues

Hello, I've just installed koha 3.2-alpha on a Debian lenny server with zebra enabled. I selected the options for sample libraries and sample patron types to be installed when I ran the web installer. Now I've reached the Patron Types and Categories config section and cannot add a new patron category or edit an existing category, such as PT or ST. I can bring up the new or edit screen and fill in values, but once I click Save and return to the patron category main screen, nothing has changed. I am able to add new libraries and item types without a problem. I have done several test installs of 3.0 and this was never an issue. Is there something I've overlooked? Is there a MySQL error? number of item records attached to a biblio record

Sorry, folks. I know I have read or heard somewhere about a limit to the number of items that can be attached to a single bibliographic record, but I can't find it now. problem searching in opac

Ubuntu 9.10 64bit Koha 3.01.00.124 I can search all day in the staff client, but get 'No result found! No results match your search for "kw,wrdl:tree"' in the opac. I'm sure its a setting I've changed in the Opac, but can't seem to find it. Any clues thoughts admonishments?
