cataloguing error message and 003 control identifier

Two parts to this question: Does our Library need to get a control identifier number from the marc organization code in order to successfully add records or can the default OSt work? Someone had a question about querying the database in kbarcode, instead of clicking on reply I clicked on delete (anybody else have these bright moments?), so here goes; Make sure that kbarcode can and does connect to your koha database. (By default it is set to something else) Then you just can enter mysql queries into your label. Sorry, I won't be home until Wednesday the 28th of April, then I will be able to give you a more detailed reply if you want or need, you can e-mail me your question. Sometimes life can be made easier by adding a custom table for kbarcode to use. Marty

Availability (& Zebra?)

Hi, I am hoping to get some help with an issue I am having with our Koha(v3.00.05.003) installation. This is a new installation and biblio/item data has been imported via MARC records. All of our items imported correctly, we imported patrons and manually populated the issues table with data from the previous system. The problem we are having is, in the search screen (ie cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=test). The books are ALL reported to be on loan. (Availability: No items available: Checked out (1)) The reality is, some are available, some are not. This is ACCURATELY(and contradictory to the search screen) reflected in the details screen for each book (cgi-bin/koha/opac-detail.pl?biblionumber=733), this will list the items with their correct status, available or checked out. In my research I found that Availability is calculated based on 5 fields, notforloan(0); damaged(0); itemlost(0); wthdrawn(0) and onloan(null). These are all accurately set in our data. I looked into the code (/usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Search.pm line 1249) and it seems that the availability is retrieved from the Zebra index for the search screen, and not the data, unless I am misinterpreting the comment. # 'available' is defined as (items.onloan is NULL) and (items.itemlost = 0) # In English: # all records not indexed in the onloan register (zebra) and all records with a value of lost equal to 0 The scenario of a 'Zebra onloan register' not being populated would 'fit' my problem in my mind, as it is only on the search screen that availability is wrongly presented. My question is how can I populate this 'register'? z39.50 Search

Dear All, i am having the problem with z39.50server, i don know how to solve this, when ever i want to add marc and after giving the isbn i click on the z39.50 server button a window opens having names of the servers but when i click on search button i get the following error Server error! The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request. PTFS Koha Community Support and the Koha.org Website

As you know, PTFS acquired LibLime and is integrating the LibLime operation into our existing open source software business unit. With this acquisition, PTFS inherited quite a few tasks, all to be performed simultaneously, and our work is not near complete. However, we want to increase our involvement within the community now, at this early phase of the transition. As promised, PTFS will continue to support the Koha open source community. We understand that the http://koha-community.org/ website was set up as a temporary measure before our purchase of LibLime, out of concerns that the content of koha.org was out of date and was not under the control of official members of the community. To resolve this issue PTFS would like help in updating and supporting koha.org. * * To that end, we email to solicit community volunteers to support and update portions of the koha.org web site in a collaborative fashion similar to how it worked about a year ago. We understand that people in the elected Koha roles had editing rights to the following areas on the site: 1. Documentation 2. Downloads 3. Release Manager and Maintainer 4. Translation Manager 5. etc. If the current or former persons in these or other roles are interested in taking over these website responsibilities again, and returning to a collaborative model for support of the koha.org site, please contact Kelly Sherman at ksherman(a)liblime.com. In addition, PTFS is happy to remain the host of the git repository and have already set up a ‘new_features’ branch for the next version with permissions to push granted to Chris Cormack. git.koha-community.org hosting

Hello All - I've recently realized that there isn't a git.koha-community.org site for hosting code. I'm am proposing that ByWater Solutions provide server space for hosting a git repo with an address of git.koha-community.org The main control and configuration will be managed by the koha-community.org Release Managers, Release Maintainers, and Translation Managers and anybody else designated to push patches. We will gladly take all help and recommendations for configuration, appropriate security, and access rights for all involved. The manner in which we plan on hosting git - is access for all. All those interested in helping please contact myself or Ian Walls ( ian.walls(a)bywatersolutions.com ) and of course please make sure to post comments here in the mail-list so that we can all follow along. NCIP/FullfILLment

Chris, After a bit of investigation, it is not yet clear whether use of the FulfILLment connector system will require that Koha be NCIP compliant. While that reduces its urgency, I believe NCIP compliance is nonetheless important for Koha in the long run. NEKLS would tentatively be willing to be one partner in an NCIP development project, provided that we gain some assurance from our support vendor (PTFS) that the NCIP enhancement would be made available to their customers, whether using community Koha (such as NEKLS) or LLEK, as well as the entire Koha community.
