Seeking opinions on the OPAC MARC views
by Owen Leonard 06 Aug '10

06 Aug '10

If you have your OPAC XSLT option turned on, a standard installation of Koha 3.x will have two options for viewing a title's MARC record from the detail page: "MARC View" and "Expanded MARC View." See this example on ByWater's demo: http://catalog.bywatersolutions.com/cgi-bin/koha/opac-detail.pl?biblionumbe… If you click the "MARC View" link it pops up a modal window with a plain text view of the MARC record. Does your library use this view? From a public library perspective this view doesn't seem useful. I'm interested in finding out whether others find it useful and if there are ways we can improve the usability of the option for all. Thanks, Owen -- Web Developer Athens County Public Libraries http://www.myacpl.org

bulkimport as xml
by Linda Culberson 06 Aug '10

06 Aug '10

Everyone, Has anyone had any success importing items in MARCXML format using the "-m MARCXML" option for bulkmarcimport.pl? I can't seem to get it to work. I don't get an error message, but it does have deleting biblios 0 records done. Any insight/suggestions would be appreciated. Re: [Koha] [Koha-devel] Search by barcode or item number in OPAC
by Alejandro Tiraboschi 06 Aug '10

06 Aug '10

If you enter, for example, bc:12345 or bc:'12345' in the search box you get the biblio with an item with 12345 as barcode. It does not work in advanced search. Indexing Question
by Christopher White 05 Aug '10

05 Aug '10

We want to set up indexing that will only index recently added records. Currently we are just rebuilding the entire index with the following command: RUN as root: perl -I /usr/share/koha/lib /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl -b -a -r -v How would we modify or replace the above script so it would just index recently added items? Suddenly We Cannot ADD Items
by Christopher White 05 Aug '10

05 Aug '10

Something happened to our koha system in the last two days that prevents us from adding items to records. When we add an item, the following occurs. 1. The Normal View in Cataloging show "No Physical Items." 2. The items do not show up in items table in mysql. 3. If you select edit item or add item, the item shows up but if you try to edit, none of the fields are populated. ....................................... The following are the only system wide changes we made in the last two days. Could either be related to the appearance of the above problem? 1. We turned on the OPAC suppress feature and modified authorized values and MARC default bibliographic framework to accomodate the suppress feature. We have since reversed all these changes. 2. Modified the indexing script to speed up indexing. We had been running: perl -I /usr/share/koha/lib /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl -b -a -r -v We tried the following variations: su kohaadmin -c "perl -I /usr/share/koha/lib /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl -b -a" Christopher J White Systems Librarian The Sage Colleges Troy, New York (518)244-4521 (518)858-8563 (cell) whitec2(a)sage.edu

analytical records sponsorship
by Linda Culberson 05 Aug '10

05 Aug '10

Back in March there was some discussion on the list about analytical records, and I'd like to know if anyone has gotten any further with this. Is any development being done to link analytical records to the parent record's item? And, would anyone be interested in cosponsoring the development with us should we be able to find someone willing to take it on? Sudden error in 3.0.2
by Anna Kågedal 05 Aug '10

05 Aug '10

Dear all, Suddenly an error has appeared in some, but not all of our posts. Mostly, but not always, the error appears in the catalog posts entered recently. We have not changed anything for several months, and we tried to restart the server, but that didn't help. Does anyone have any idea what this can be and how to solve it? We are using 3.0.2 on a Linux server, and below comes the error message.
