Fwd: zebra question
by Lenora Oftedahl 12 Aug '10

12 Aug '10

Can someone help with this? Our server had to be rebooted. We lost the ability to search, so we were rebuilding the Zebra indexes. Thanx. Lenora StreamNet Regional Librarian Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission http://www.fishlib.org >>> From: Hilary Forrest To: Lenora Oftedahl Date: 8/12/2010 11:04 AM Subject: zebra question I see a warning message in the indexing procedure: Index 'any' not found in attset(s) Does this mean anything to you? I'm guessing there is a list of words somewhere and 'any' is not in it and zebra thinks it probably should be.

More export/import questions
by Scott Owen 12 Aug '10

12 Aug '10

Hi all, Thank you all for the responses to my previous questions about exporting/importing biblio data. I think I have a grasp of what need to be done. (seems to be a big bigger job than I was hoping for...) With that said.... I noticed another potential issue (maybe?). ************************************* =942 \\$cBOOK =952 \\$bPINE$dPINE$kF HAN$p74238$r{dollar}11.96$t3$v2010-05-13$u4247 =952 \\$bPINE$r0.00$w2008-08-17$u266$kF HAN$p70265$v2008-08-17 =952 \\$bPINE$r0.00$dPINE$w2010-05-13$u4247$kF HAN$p74238$v2010-05-13 =952 \\$bPINE$dPINE$kF HAN$p70262$r{dollar}13.99$t2$u263 =952 \\$bPINE$dPINE$kF HAN$p70262$r0.00$v2008-08-17$w2008-08-17$u263 =952 \\$bPINE$dPINE$kF HAN$p70265$r{dollar}10.96$t5$u266 =952 \\$bPINE$dPINE$kF HAN$p74255$r{dollar}10.96$t6$u4264 ************************************** In the above snip from MARCedit, the 3rd line and the 7th line both reference the same item ($p70265 -- barcode # 70265). Is this normal? Will the data in line 7 overwrite the data from line 3? ie: if line 3 contains the $v2008-08-17 field data, and line 7 does not, will the result be an empty $v field? Should I be concerned with this, or is this a normal occurrence? Thank you again for any insight. -Scott Owen Alma Public Schools

Batch item deletion using a file
by Behar, Evelyn 12 Aug '10

12 Aug '10

We are using 3.0.6. In Tools - Batch Deletion of Items, I am unable to use a file of barcodes to delete item records. I have tried using txt, csv and Excel files, without success. If the bar codes are scanned a batch deletion is possible. Evelyn W. August Koha Newsletter: Call for Articles
by Nicole Engard 12 Aug '10

12 Aug '10

It's that time again, the next newsletter will be published in 15 days. I need any and all announcements/tips/tricks/news/koha events sent to me by the 12th of August if I'm to get the newsletter out on time. Articles should be short and if you have a lot to say then send along a link to the full article. Remember you don't have to write a whole lot, just a short 2 liner is A-OK! Thanks in advance, Nicole C. Engard

export/import issues
by SCOTT OWEN 12 Aug '10

12 Aug '10

Hi all, First, please forgive my ignorance. I'm a tech, not a librarian, so if my terminology is off or if I seem a bit dense, please be patient and use small words....... I'm trying to move data from Koha 2.29 to Koha 3.00.06. I am exporting MARC records from Koha 2.29 (Windows) and then trying to import the *.mrc files into Koha 3.00.06. Some fields seem to transfer fine, while others (I believe it's the "holdings data"?) seem to be a bit off. Example: Here is a record for an item exported from Koha 2.29 and then opened with MarcEdit5.1 (after it was made into a *.mrk file) ******************************************** =LDR 01080nam a2200301D1 4500 =008 080817t\\\\\\\\xxu|||||\||||\00|\0\eng\d =008 890110s1988\\\\maua\\\j\\\\\\000\0\eng\w =010 \\$a488080340 ( file://\$a488080340 ) =020 \\$a0763603082 ( file://\$a0763603082 ) =035 \\$a.b11494293 ( file://\$a.b11494293 ) =082 \\$aF ( file://\$aF ) HAN =090 \\$c11$d11 ( file://\$c11$d11 ) =099 \\$aJ ( file://\$aJ ) PICTURE BOOK HAN =100 1\$aHandford, Martin. =245 10$aWhere's Waldo now?/$cHandford, Martin. =246 30$aFind Waldo now. =260 \\$aBoston ( file://\$aBoston ) :$bLittle, Brown,$cc1988. =300 \\$a1 ( file://\$a1 ) v. :$bill. ;$cslj 2. =500 \\$aPreviously ( file://\$aPreviously ) published as Find Waldo now. =500 \\$a"First ( 'file://\$a"First' ) published in Great Britain by "Walker Books Lts. as Where's Wally now?" =650 \0$aPicture puzzles$vJuvenile fiction. =942 \\$cBOOK ( file://\$cBOOK ) =952 \\$bPINE$dPINE$kF ( file://\$bPINE$dPINE$kF ) HAN$p74236$r{dollar}11.96$t5$v2010-05-13$u4245 =952 \\$bPINE$dPINE$kF ( file://\$bPINE$dPINE$kF ) HAN$p70251$r{dollar}13.99$t1$u252 =952 \\$bPINE$dPINE$kF ( file://\$bPINE$dPINE$kF ) HAN$p70254$r{dollar}13.99$t4$u255 =952 \\$bPINE$dPINE$kF ( file://\$bPINE$dPINE$kF ) HAN$p70253$r{dollar}13.99$t3$u254 =952 \\$bPINE$dPINE$kF ( file://\$bPINE$dPINE$kF ) HAN$p70252$r{dollar}10.99$t2$u253 =952 \\$bPINE$dPINE$kF ( file://\$bPINE$dPINE$kF ) HAN$p74252$r{dollar}10.96$t6$u4261 ******************************************************** If this is working as I think, the 952 field represents the 6 copies of the book that we have in our collection at the PINE location. Here is what shows up in koha 3.00.06 after I import the *.mrc file. ************************************************************ Date last seen Not for loan Date acquired Cost, replacement price Koha item type Uniform Resource Identifier Barcode Damaged status Lost status Withdrawn status Current Location Copy number $11.96 PINE2010-05-13 4245 ( http://10.1.1.23/cgi-bin/koha/4245 )74236 Pine Ave. Elementary5 $13.99 PINE 252 ( http://10.1.1.23/cgi-bin/koha/252 )70251 Pine Ave. Elementary1 $13.99 PINE 255 ( http://10.1.1.23/cgi-bin/koha/255 )70254 Pine Ave. Elementary4 $13.99 PINE 254 ( http://10.1.1.23/cgi-bin/koha/254 )70253 Pine Ave. Elementary3 $10.99 PINE 253 ( http://10.1.1.23/cgi-bin/koha/253 )70252 Pine Ave. Elementary2 $10.96 PINE 4261 ( http://10.1.1.23/cgi-bin/koha/4261 )74252 Pine Ave. Elementary6 ********************************************************************* So.....looking at this it seems that I need to swap the "date last seen" and "Cost, replacement price" fields. I also seem to have missing "Koha, Item type" and the "Date acquired" is showing the location...not the date. Lastly, the "Uniform Resource Identifier" link just takes me to a 404 error page... I have no clue what this is supposed to do? Am I exporting/importing this data correctly? Is there an easy way to repair/fix the 952 field, or am I going to have to swap/replace cut/paste as per http://koha.org/documentation/manual/3.0/cataloging/item-fields-data-migrat… Thanks for any advise. -Scott Owen Alma Public Schools

Re: [Koha] Circulation Speed
by Chris Cormack 12 Aug '10

12 Aug '10

Hi Amber Have you tried with a more recent version of Koha, 3.0.2 is a year old now, 3.0.6 is the most recent, with 3.2.0 due for release soon. There are a lot of things you can do to speed up circ, mysql tuning, expires headers etc. But one simple thing to try is using google chrome as your browser, it seems to render the circ pages a lot faster than other browsers. Chris Amber Amland <library(a)mountainviewics.org> wrote: >Has anyone solved the problem of slow check out and in time in Koha 3.0? >I'm sorry, I know there was some discussion of this in April or May. About Annoying Highlighting Behaviour
by Nitesh Rijal 12 Aug '10

12 Aug '10

Dear all. Today I came across a behavior that is caused because of the search result highlighting feature in KOHA. I'm using KOHA 3.0.6 and this is the opac link http://202.70.88.11:8000 I searched for an entry "a" and found that it highlights all the a's in the whole page (not only in search result). well that was not a big problem but the thing that annoyed me was the dropdown list for sorting the result. I don't know why, all the a's in that list gets disappeared when selected. The same happens when I search for any other alphabet like "o". But if I search for "nepal" then everything is fine. I tried to turn off the OpacHighlightedSearch option in Staff Client, but there is not effect of it. I tried to search the same in Staff Client, but there is no such problem. Staff client interface is not skipping any alphabet while searching. Please look at this and let me know, if I'm wrong anywhere.
