Billing Automation?
by Chris Hobbs 03 Sep '10

03 Sep '10

When a patron has lost an item, or the appropriate amount of overdue days have accrued, the item is placed into a 'Billed' status in our system (Billed is one of our Lost options). When the patron pays for the book, we want the lost status of the item to change to 'Paid'. We'd also like the book to be checked in at that point. Is there a way to handle this automatically, or do our librarians need to touch the Fine, the item status, and circulation to keep all of this in sync? RFC: Cost Of Resource Exchange (NISO CORE) Protocol
by MJ Ray 03 Sep '10

03 Sep '10

NISO have just announced a way for Koha to send financial data to other software packages, so I've added an RFC for 3.4 at http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/NISO_CORE_protocol I'm interested in working on that after our current tasks, but I suspect it will also need someone to work on corresponding changes in another package like a finance system for it to be worthwhile for a library. What do other Koha users think of this? Would it be worth having for you? Thanks, -- MJ Ray (slef), member of www.software.coop, a for-more-than-profit co-op. Roadmap for EDI/9XX
by Conelly, Max A. 03 Sep '10

03 Sep '10

Hello Koha Listserve, My library is currently looking towards a migration to Koha. We have seen that there is no EDI/9XX functionality currently. I have seen that there was some discussion about "maybe" having EDI in 3.4. Getting these two technologies working in Sirsi was a game changer for our Technical Services department, and I don't want to be taking a backwards step when we migrate. My question to the group is when such features might be available. Is anyone else looking at implementing it through a paid vendor? Is anyone trying to develop it in house? Is there a group trying to throw money or resources at it and can we join? Thanks in advance, Max Conelly <mailto:maconelly@washoecounty.us> D.C.A.S. Washoe County Library 301 S. HOLDPLACED being sent to patrons?
by Nicole Engard 03 Sep '10

03 Sep '10

Hello all, I have a report that the HOLDPLACED email is being sent to patrons - or at least it looks like it's being sent to patrons. I looked at this patch: http://lists.koha-community.org/pipermail/koha-patches/2009-August/010025.h… which seems to say that the email is being sent to the librarian (as expected) but this screenshot http://bywatersolutions.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/holdplaced.png shows that the email is being logged on the patron record as being sent. Can someone confirm for me the behavior that is expected? Is the message being sent only to the librarian? or is the message going to the patron as well? If it's going to patron as well we need to change the preference explanation so that's clear - or we need 2 preferences. If it's not going to the patron then I don't think it should show on the patron's message log. Thanks for any clarification, Nicole C. Engard

Home Branch/Holding Branch Problem 3.0.6
by Paul Davis 03 Sep '10

03 Sep '10

Hello; I have upgraded to 3.0.6 am having issues with many of my items do not have the holding branch or home branch, which shows items unavailable in the OPAC but still can check them out in the admin. (This may have been a carry over from an earlier upgrade because I am finding and solving issues with my zebra record.abs and MARC framework.) I examined the items table and found these fields empty. Populated the fields with SQL commands to match working records, re-indexed and still nothing. The only why I have found is to go to each record, click Edit, edit items, edit the item - fill in the info (most times it is there) and hit save. After the cron job re-index they show up fine in the OPAC. There are a lot of records involved - is there a batch way to accomplish the same thing? In the items table, homebranch and holdingbranch are already populated like the other working items. Thank you. -- Paul Davis

Problemas em encontrar itens do acervo com funcionalidade "Search"
by Geovana de Paula Santos Tarricone 02 Sep '10

02 Sep '10

Alguém teria alguma outra opinião para me dar? Essa catalogação está quase impossível!!! Grata desde já, Geovana.

Hi everybody, My library recently migrated to Koha 3.00.06 from 3.00.05. Everything looks good in opac and staff client and we have already solved place hold problem. Present problem is that check out is not working after writeoff fine. When I try to check out, it displays yellow bar above the check out box. Any thoughts about this regard. Please help me to solve this problem. Best regard Nur Ahammad (Junior Assistant Librarian) BRAC UNIVERSITY LIBRARY

Help needed in ICU configuration in Zebra for Unicode Search

Hello all.... Few days back I had posted a problem about the Unicode Nepali Searching. The problem was that whenever I searched for a word in Nepali, it returned all the records in Nepali. for eg: you can try the link http://nnl.healthnet.org.np Then as a suggestion I got answer from the community that some people had the same problem with Hebrew records and they fixed it with ICU indexing with Zebra..... I searched a lot for how to install and configure ICU in Zebra for Unicode Searching, but didn't get any concrete solution. So, if there is anyone, who has done this before...please help me. -- Nitesh Rijal BE IT rijal.it(a)gmail.com http://niteshrijal.com.np http://facebook.com/openrijal http://twitter.com/openrijal +9779841458173
