Report Help
by Nicole Engard 02 Dec '10

02 Dec '10

I am looking at this report in the report library: SELECT DATE(datetime) AS date, substring(itemcallnumber,1,1) AS 'Call# range', count(*) AS count FROM statistics LEFT JOIN items USING (itemnumber) WHERE statistics.type IN ('issue', 'renew') AND YEAR(datetime) = 2010 GROUP BY DATE(datetime), substring(itemcallnumber,1,1) And I'm wondering if anyone knows how I could change that substring bit to show me everything before the first space. For example I want F but I also want JFIC - basically I want to lump it together using the first bit of the call number - the bit before the space. Thanks in advance, Nicole

Koha cart in v. 3.2
by Amy Schuler 02 Dec '10

02 Dec '10

Hello, I just want to confirm that when using the cart feature in Koha v. 3.03.00.004 (we just upgraded today), it is NOT possible to e-mail the contents of the cart unless one is logged in? The email feature did not work for 3.02 either. Is this intentional, or a bug? I did not see any login caveats in the 3.2 documentation for the cart feature. I have disabled the login feature since I am sure it would annoy my users to have to login every time they search the catalog. Thanks, Amy Schuler

z39.50: UNIMARC vs MARC21/USMARC
by Giuseppe Angilella 02 Dec '10

Hi, A given z39.50 server provides records in UNIMARC format, while my database was originally designed for MARC21/USMARC. How can I safely import records from that server? Many thanks. Giuseppe.

Koha item type used to select MARC Framework?
by Peter Huerter 02 Dec '10

02 Dec '10

How does Koha select which "MARC Framework" is relevant to a particular item? Is "item type" used for this? We have several pre-defined MARC Frameworks: SR, IR, BKS, CF, VR, FA, KT, AR, SER and Default framework. I am trying to figure out which one to modify for a book (we have an item type BK = Book). I'm wondering if Koha uses the "BKS" MARC Framework for a book? (Really what I'm trying to do is force the call of callnumber.pl.) Thanks, Pete. -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Koha-item-type-used-to-select-MARC-Framew… Sent from the Koha - Discuss mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

You might try upgrading to Koha 3.2.1, although, I am not certain if that will help. Multiple configuration remedies have been posted for the problem in the past which do not quite address the core problem. The code is making an inappropriate presumption. Please provide some example MARC records for which you have failure. MARC records for which you have success are certainly also of interest. The issue has been reported as bug 5333, http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=5333 . I suspect that I will not have the time presently to solve the problem for you but there is a curious feature of the two example records in the bug report. Having more example records would be helpful. Thomas Dukleth Agogme 109 E 9th Street, 3D New York, NY 10003 USA http://www.agogme.com +1 212-674-3783

FW: Koha and Banner

Talofa Everyone from Samoa It was great to meet some of you recently at the KohaCon10 Conference in Wellington. We are progressing towards migrating to Koha here in Samoa and are looking at the system for all of the USP libraries across the pacific. I have one question for you all just now, has anyone used Banner with Koha to import patron records and details? I see the following post back in April in the Archive. Was there any response to this? From: Lori Bowen Ayre <lori.ayre@... <http://gmane.org/get-address.php?address=lori.ayre%2dxeNClPxZI2dBDgjK7y 7TUQ%40public.gmane.org> > Subject: ***SPAM*** integration with Banner, DataTel or PeopleSoft <http://news.gmane.org/find-root.php?message_id=%3ck2n6aaa5a161004140940 zb8fad50ck8262165ea75f0769%40mail.gmail.com%3e> Newsgroups: gmane.education.libraries.open-ils.general <http://news.gmane.org/gmane.education.libraries.open%2dils.general> , gmane.comp.misc.koha <http://news.gmane.org/gmane.comp.misc.koha> Date: 2010-04-14 16:40:23 GMT (33 weeks, 5 hours and 14 minutes ago) I'm doing a presentation for community college library directors tomorrow about open source library system software and I recall that the last time I spoke to this group, they were concerned about whether Koha or Evergreen intregrated with the following systems: 1. Banner 2. DataTel 3. PeopleSoft Does anyone have any experience with any of these? If you are in a community college setting running either Koha or Evergreen today, I'd love to know about you!
