Koha in three words
by M. Brooke Helman 30 Nov '10

30 Nov '10

Kia ora! When last we left our intrepid bullshitter, a tag cloud was linked like so: http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/File:Zecloud2.png and the intention to brew things was conveyed. A high quality imported genuine Australian ratbag helped to stir a prior mission statement in with the cloud. Behold! A newer, improved statement was born, cramming as many words in from the three words folks sent as possible. (Nifty three words words may well be red on your screen. Here's hoping.) The mission of the Koha project is to produce and maintain an evolutionary and revolutionary free open source Integrated Library System. Through collaboration, our communityhopes to offer a fresh, dynamic, reliable catalogue that sets the benchmark in usability, quality and innovation. We seek to emancipate users from the morass of proprietary data and orphaned products and empower Koha users to share their strengths in a stable, welcoming, and nurturing environment. We value the cooperation of enthusiastic librarians, generous software developers, transparent support providers and all people of integrity who share our commitment to freedom and participate in the spirit of solidarity. But wait, that's not all! I will still amusingly beg for your feedback prior to the next IRC meeting of 8th December. If you don't see your personal words, have no fear, they might well be pressed in to service later. Cheers, Brooke

SQL field lengths
by Paul 29 Nov '10

29 Nov '10

Problem: the CCODE in the Koha SQL database is limited to 10 characters only. We have (transferring our data from spreadsheets) dozens of categories that exceed this limit e.g. "marine biology", "yacht cruising", etc. Does anyone know of a quick way to modify the field length in SQL "on the fly"? Many thanks - the alternative is to manually correct tens of thousands of entries spread across hundreds of spreadsheets. Paul

Koha and using OCLC Connexion
by Linda Culberson 29 Nov '10

29 Nov '10

All, Can anyone who catalogs in Koha using OCLC's Connexion to import records share their workflow strategy with me either on/off list? I did find a mention of Connexion in the list archives but not a lot of detail. Any helps/insights would be appreciated. Koha admin error
by Norman Littlejohn 29 Nov '10

29 Nov '10

I just installed Koha on my Ubuntu server. I followed instructions from the following Blazing Moon website: http://www.blazingmoon.org/news/2008/12/installing-koha-3-on-ubuntu-810-a-t… Everything went well with the installation, not errors until I tried to run the Koha admin from my browser. I received the following error: Koha error The following fatal error has occurred: Can't locate ZOOM.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/share/koha/lib /etc/perl /usr/local/lib/perl/5.10.1 /usr/local/share/perl/5.10.1 /usr/lib/perl5 /usr/share/perl5 /usr/lib/perl/5.10 /usr/share/perl/5.10 /usr/local/lib/site_perl .) at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Context.pm line 84. I am new to Linux but am very comfortable with software installation and troubleshooting. I should also mention that this installation is on the same computer as my sql database, in case that is helpful. I hope someone can help me out. Koha Library
by Adam Barker 29 Nov '10

Hi, Cc Doug, Lucy, Jo My Name is Adam I am currently trying to re-brand your system. However, I have come up-against an issue not with the software but the way something auto generates on a couple of pages. I'm guessing its a JavaScript somewhere on the system. Basically what is happening is on the rendering of the home page there is an auto generated style on the body tag, i have tried searching through all of the files but was unsuccessful in trying to find where this was happening. I was wondering if you could point me in the direction of the correct script so i am able to disable the background styling as it is overwriting my CSS. I will be grateful for any assistance you can give.
