protocol used to manage bookcheck unit? (hardware product)
by Gerard Henry 07 Dec '10

07 Dec '10

hello all, we are looking at a new bookcheck unit from 3M (model 942), coupled with koha. Unfortunately, this model comes with Windows software, while we want use it from linux/unix. Reading the rare docs, i notice that 3M talks about codes sent by ILS, like: DDD RRR SSS Anybody knows what it means? Is it a known protocol? The 3M software seems to use serial line to interact with the bookcheck unit, so i guess it is a simple protocol. Thanks in advance for help, gerard -- http://catalogue.cmi.univ-mrs.fr

Z3950 Access and Public IP Address
by amutsikiwa 07 Dec '10

07 Dec '10

Hi All. I am wondering if it is possible to access Z39.50 without direct Internet Access. I once connected my server directly to the Internet and I was able to import records from z3950.loc.gov server. Now I am connected indirectly via a another computer. I can go ahead and get z39.50 results, but I cannot import. I am getting this error: Can't call method "add_subfields" on an undefined value at /usr/share/koha/intranet/cgi-bin/cataloguing/addbiblio.pl line 141. I believe the error has do to with how I am conncted to the Internet because if I have a direct connection to the Internet, I can import the records. Regards, Admire Mutsikiwa

Harcoded date format in Members.pm -> GetMessages?
by Martin Longo 06 Dec '10

06 Dec '10

Hello there! I have came across a problem with the messages system, as it displays the messages for the borrowers with a date format that is not the format chosen for the system in SysPrefs... We use the dd/mm/yyyy format system wide, and the messages have their dates in the mm/dd/yyyy format. I backtraced the date that is printed with the message and found that this problematic format is harcoded in the module Messages.pm, in the GetMessage routine, as can be seen in the following chunk of code... my $query = "SELECT branches.branchname, messages.*, DATE_FORMAT( message_date, '%m/%d/%Y' ) AS message_date_formatted, messages.branchcode LIKE '$branchcode' AS can_delete FROM messages, branches WHERE borrowernumber = ? AND message_type LIKE ? AND messages.branchcode = branches.branchcode ORDER BY message_date DESC"; I've filed a bug (Bug 5476) about this -- Ing. J. Martin Longo Depto. Currencies and Exchange Rates
by sheldon_tappin 06 Dec '10

06 Dec '10

Hi All, I have a slight problem with Currencies and Exchange rates. The problem is: I would like to enter a new currency into the system, which is the US currency and the exchange rate which for us (Guyana) is $200. The problem that I'm facing is: koha only allows a maximum exchange rate of 99.99999. How can the maximum exchange rate from 99.99999 to 200 or even to a much higher digit.
