Problem Setting the Renewal Field on Item Types
by Kyle Noakes 20 Apr '11

20 Apr '11

Hello, I am unable to edit existing item types to allow them to be renewable. I am also unable to add a new item type with the "Renewals" field set. Does anyone have any ideas of why this particular field would not save, but other fields in Item Types Administration would? In the past I have had a similar situation with saving something in Administration. When it happened previously, I was able to locate the table and field in Mysql and update it manually. I am unable to find where the "Renewals" field is in the database as it is not located in the itemtypes table. Any help on the location of the Renewals field would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Kyle Noakes Manager of Information Systems East Grand Rapids Public Schools

SQL statement for generating current checkouts
by nabonita Guha 20 Apr '11

20 Apr '11

Dear Koha users/Developers, Can you please help me in building SQL statement to generate current checkouts on a given date (not for a date range). For example, I need to generate a report to get list of (barcodes with borrowers card number, surname and firstname and borrower's category with date of issue) were on Loan as on 2011-03-29. Looking forward to hearing from you. An enhancement to messaging preferences?
by Sue McMillan 20 Apr '11

20 Apr '11

Hello everyone. The public library system that I work for has just recently joined the Koha family. I am loving the versatility of the system. We are using the Patron Messaging Preferences for the standard overdue and circulation notices. We wonder if there is room for an enhancement that would allow customers to select and receive periodic lists of newly accessioned items they are interested in? In our case I was thinking of basing lists on Koha Item types for the adults, and possibly more encompassing lists for the junior and teen books. How I envision it working is patrons would be able to see what lists were available by logging into the online catalogue and select individual lists that meet their borrowing interests. They would be able to select how often they would like to receive the lists; with weekly, fortnightly or monthly options. I would think the emailed list would include the author and title of the item and a small cover image. By being able to push this information out to customers via email we may increase our patronage. Has anyone done something like this? Circulation report limited with date
by Vimal Kumar 20 Apr '11

20 Apr '11

Dear Friends, I could generate the current checkouts with following SQL query: SELECT issues.issuedate,items.barcode,biblio.title, author,borrowers.firstname,borrowers.surname FROM issues LEFT JOIN borrowers ON borrowers.borrowernumber=issues.borrowernumber LEFT JOIN items ON issues.itemnumber=items.itemnumber LEFT JOIN biblio ON items.biblionumber=biblio.biblionumber ORDER BY issues.issuedate Please help me to generate the same as per date limit. For example: I need to generate report of current checkouts as of 29th March 2011. How shall I modify the query so that I can get the report limited with date. With best regards -- Vimal Kumar V. Showing Marc21 526 subfields in OPAC Normal View, or Labeling them in Notes
by Brad 20 Apr '11

20 Apr '11

Hi All, Our School uses Scholastic Reading Counts and I’ve figured out how to enter the “Reading Program” information into the MARC records 526 subfields. But I’d like the information to be displayed more prominently for the students in the OPAC. Right now they have to click the “Title Notes” tab to see the information (or the “MARC View” which most of them don’t look at because it is confusing). On the notes tab it is displayed as such “Reading Counts RC 3-5 5.1 10” So the list of numbers have no labels. I’d like to at least get the notes tab to show labels for the numbers. Reading Counts Interest Level 3-5 Grade Level 5.1 Point Value 10 Better yet since this info is so important to the students, I’d love to figure out a way to have this just show up in the “Normal View” Along with the Lexile Level from 521 8 $a perhaps like this Reading Counts Point Value 10 Interest Level 3-5 Grade Level 5.1 Lexile 700 I’ve been looking around for instructions on how to do this and have just become confused… So my questions are 1. Can it be done? 2. Where do I find info on how to do it? I am using Koha Version 3.02.00.004 Thanks, Brad Gabbert IT Director International School of Wuxi Wuxi, Jiangsu, China

That warning you get has to do with the index 'any' not being set in your att set. You should rebuild your authorities database so the change from dom to grs1 applies, it is triggered like this: su - koha -c "KOHA_CONF=/etc/koha/koha-conf.xml PERL5LIB=/usr/share/koha/lib /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl -a -v -r" Note the '-r'. Documentation Questions for 3.4
by Nicole Engard 20 Apr '11

20 Apr '11

Hi all, I need some help documenting the following: * OpacHiddenItems - I know it says to read the text file, but that text file doesn't explain how this is to be used or why? What do I put in the box? How do I format it? Why am I using this? * UseControlNumber - What does this do? I'm totally clueless here. * State fields for libraries and patrons - these will not populate with states that were in the system already on upgrade - right? Thanks in advance, Nicole
