re Cataloguing Electronic Resources
by library 06 Sep '11

06 Sep '11

Kai ora koutou Thank you all for your kind and thoughtful responses. I have decided to attach items to each electronic record and assign them their own barcode range er100001 etc. This way our students can search the library catalogue from home and their classrooms to use the websites. Item types = IR — Internet Resources or EB — ebooks and ccode = ER — Electronic Resource. We can then separate these resources out when it comes to audit time and if we ever get ebooks we can track useage. Items on order
by WTC 06 Sep '11

06 Sep '11

I would like patrons to be able to see in the OPAC items that are on order. I had set field 952$7=-1 but this marks the item as NOT_LOAN and hides it from patrons. Is there a good way I can make items on order display in the OPAC? Should I use a field other than 952$7? Is there a way to make patrons see items marked NOT_LOAN if the value is -1? Any other suggestions? Many thanks. -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Items-on-order-tp4775279p4775279.html Sent from the Koha - Discuss mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

How to reverse the wrong Item Entry
by Raphael Muonga 06 Sep '11

06 Sep '11

My colleagues I need help to a write some SQL code to reverse the "ordered" entry in the "Not for Loan" field for the books which were erroneously entered like that instead of leaving that field blank in the first place so that they can be illegible for loan. The records are too many to be edited manually! Thanking you in anticipation. Raphael Muonga

KOHA and OAI-PMH
by Hugo Agud 06 Sep '11

06 Sep '11

Dear Colleagues, We're working setting up a bunch of koha sites (small network of libraries) and they wish yo load all their catalogues into one central catalogue using OAI-PMH into www.extensivecatalogue.com The version of Koha 3.4.4 and Linux Ubuntu 10.10 maverick The question is that we have set up Koha OAI-PMH and it seems it is working, but we feel more confortable if we know more in detail how it works... Example: what's the script that creates the content? Example: how can we modify the marcxml schema? Anybody knows if there is any additional manual or material we can study it? For your info or in case anybody does the same, we wish to push all the data into XC (extensivecatalogue), if we fail with OAI we are going to develope some kind of mysql > csv connector :) Thank you very much in advance Kindest Regards Hugo -- *Hugo Agud - Orex Digital * *www.orex.es* * * Director Avenida Sarriá 29 · 08029 Barcelona <http://twitter.com/OrexDigital> :<http://orexsl.blogspot.com>hugoaguda - Tel: 638 799 704 hagud(a)orex.es · http://www.orex.es/ No imprima este mensaje a no ser que sea necesario. Re: [Koha] customizing koha
by R Sunil Kumar 06 Sep '11

Dear Swati, What type of customisation you are talking about, have done CSS level customisation in OPAC or code level customisation. CSS level customisation will not affect Koha's functionality where as code level will definitely. Access to Z39.50 server depends on the internet connectivity and your search fields. If you are Koha is installed on a server behind a firewall then access to Z39.50 will only be possible once the firewall provide access to some ports. Ports details will be available, in the Z39.50 server details. Regarding the search field try multiple search option, you can verify the same while search directly on loc website (http://catalog.loc.gov/) . I hope this will help you. The z39.50 is for searching external servers, not your local one. Assuming you mean local searching, the first thing to check is that your zebra server is running, it's the biggest cause of search not working. -- Robin Sheat Catalyst IT Ltd. ? +64 4 803 2204 GPG: 5957 6D23 8B16 EFAB FEF8 7175 14D3 6485 A99C EB6D
