Migration from Heritage to Koha
by Jean Francois Bucas 07 Sep '11

07 Sep '11

Dear Koha mailing list members, like anywhere else, from time to time, a success story is greatly welcomed. In the case of our small library, until last month, we were using Heritage[1], a Windows based proprietary ILS. We didn't like it, both for technical reasons and functional reasons. It took the combined efforts of the IT-guy (myself) and the librarian to export the data and process it in a way that was importable in Koha. After a few weeks, overcoming many small and big challenges, we are very happy to introduce our new system to our users, and to this date, no complain at all. If you are interested in the result and the steps of the migration, you can have a look at theses addresses: http://library.stp.dias.ie http://www.stp.dias.ie/library/Heritage2Koha/howto.txt Thanks a lot to the Koha community! KohaCon 2012 Voting
by BWS Johnson 07 Sep '11

07 Sep '11

Kia ora! Apologies to all, I screwed up. I thought voting for KohaCon 2012 started on 1 October. It's meant to close then. That's a big oops. We're hoping that nengard will ride to the rescue and get the survey out and about based on what we did last time for KohaCon 2011. If you don't want to, Nicole, we will figure out a fall back. Humbly, Brooke

LDAP login, auto populate exit date
by Scott Owen 07 Sep '11

07 Sep '11

Hi all, I currently have our Koha system set up to authenticate users via LDAP (eDirectory), but one of my media people is telling me that the "exit date" needs to be populated before new users can check out materials. Is there a way to hard code this date into the LDAP config ?

Reversing "Ordered" indicator on books
by Raphael Muonga 07 Sep '11

07 Sep '11

Please assist me with an SQL code that can automatically remove "ordered" indicator from hundreds of books to normal status to allow them for checking in/out. This is urgent as we try to commission the system. There was a mistake when manually cataloging the books. Thanks in anticipation. Raphael

Install Koha and DSpace on same system
by mailramk 07 Sep '11

07 Sep '11

Hi, I am using koha successfully. Now I want to install Dspace. Is it possible to install dspace on the same system as koha. If possible can we search dspace and koha at the same time for some book or pdf or video. Thanks. -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Install-Koha-and-DSpace-on-same-system-tp… Sent from the Koha - Discuss mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Koha - zebra error
by Linda Culberson 07 Sep '11

07 Sep '11

All, We had a strange problem with one (and only one) record failing to index yesterday. We changed something, saved, and then changed it back and resaved, and it indexed. But it was weird. In the koha-zebradaemon-output.log I see only 10:55:08-06/09 zebrasrv(15507) [fatal] open /var/lib/catalog/zebradb/biblios/shadow/cache [Permission denied] zebrasrv: sortidx.c:472: zebra_sort_read: Assertion `sf' failed. On the IRC log for 5/18/2008 someone named Mike had a question "Can anyone cast any light on this error msg: zebrasrv: sortidx.c:472: zebra_sort_read: Assertion `sf' failed" that no one ever seems to have answered. So, now, I'm asking. Can anyone explain this behavior? Once again, all the other records indexed properly, and this was only one record out of many and it finally did index. We are on Koha 3.04.01.003. Thanks. -- Linda Culberson lculber(a)mdah.state.ms.us Archives and Records Services Division Ms. Dept. of Archives & History P. O. Hi Stephen, The best forum to receive the quickest responses is the Koha User List: http://lists.katipo.co.nz/mailman/listinfo/koha > ---------- Forwarded message ---------- > > New comment on your post "Koha 3.2.2 is now available" > Comment: > After upgrading koha to 3.2.2 > > Forbidden > > You don't have permission to access / on this server. > > Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. > Apache/2.2.14 (Ubuntu) Server at 127.0.1.1 Port 8088 I'm not sure what procedure you followed for upgrading, but I'd suggest checking the permissions on your Koha files to be sure the Apache user has proper access. Posting any relevant portion of the various applicable logs will help as well. Kind Regards, Chris

KohaCon 2011 accommodation
by Robin Sheat 07 Sep '11

07 Sep '11

On the accommodation site: http://kohacon11.vpmthane.org/ocs/index.php/k/k11/schedConf/accommodation it says "Don't rush to book on the hotels site. We are trying for bulk booking and discounts" I'm starting to think about sorting accommodation soon, has this happened yet? What places are other people staying at (who are more prepared than I)? What are some suggestions that are within a good distance of the venue? -- Robin Sheat Catalyst IT Ltd. ✆ +64 4 803 2204 GPG: 5957 6D23 8B16 EFAB FEF8 7175 14D3 6485 A99C EB6D
