Server hardware questions

We will get a new server for our Koha-installation. I was wondering, how important some things might be. I don't want to know what is essential to run Koha but what would be beneficial if available and what does not matter at all. Our installation now feels really slow and I hope to change that before we go live with all features. We will have around 40.000 biblios in the DB. I was thinking of a multicore CPU (probably quadcore) so we can run Zebra updates, local scripts and other things frequently and not interrupt regular use of OPAC and staff client. Does that make sense? Does Koha work well on 64bit Debian? Are the Debian packages available for 64bit? Does it make sense to have more than 2 or 3GB of RAM for Koha performance? In that case we would need a 64bit system. I'm under the impression that a lot of the "database stuff" happens in RAM, is that right? Would the use of an SSD instead of a regular hard disk be favourable (if the price does not matter)? Does it affect Koha performance? Are there other things worth considering regaring server hardware? Thank you in advance, Mirko

While expanding support for the university curriculum and traditional faculty research, the library aims to create an extensible online platform for hosting, managing and sharing data and services among the maritime community. Commitment to Open Source is critical, not only to save costs, but to foster open standards and protocols that will facilitate community-wide collaboration. While duties will chiefly involve library technology development, the selected candidate will perform general library work as needed on behalf of a student body and faculty recruited literally from around the world. Working cheerfully and energetically in a diverse environment is expected. Fluency in English is required. The positions offer an attractive salary, free of income tax in Sweden, a benefits package and relocation expenses. Hi All, My apologies for missing yet another meeting. I had an accident. Right arm ( my working arm ) bone & elbow broken. Had to be hospitalized and operated on. I had actually logged in for the meeting with my mobile & left thumb but I was overwhelmed by the medicines during the 3.4 discussion. Anyway I am home now with a couple of weeks compulsory rest. All ground preparations are in hand by VPM authorities. I have requested an additional hall/classroom may be made available in case we require it to run parallel tracks. Dear Professional Colleagues AOA i feel pleasure to share with all of you that we have implemented KOHA 3.4.1 at School of Chemical and Materials Engineering (SCME) Library, National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST). We have also configured it with LOC Z3950 gateway which can be accessed through test html page http://loc.gov/z3950/test.html by entering IP 111.68.97.5 and port 9995 and database name biblios and search in title. Hello Is there another way to get additional authors into the basket , without this method  <TMPL_VAR NAME="separator" --></a> |   . I want to get a sub-field of the author only and do not want the other subfields I want to get the value in the sub-field (a) any help??

Software error : Urgent help pls

I am getting this error. I have changed the path of sock and pid file in my.cnf to /var/lib/mysql/.. because mysql was not running but now i am getting this error when i browse koha. I have tried everything to resolve the issue but in vain.
