Koha reservoir problem
by bidwell_p＠usp.ac.fj 23 Sep '11

Dear Koha community, I am resending this message as it has not appeared in my inbox and may not be recognising my email address - my apologies if this is your second copy. Please can you help me with this reservoir problem: we recently upgraded to 3.04.02.000 after a server meltdown with the previous version. This is not a live library - I use Koha for teaching cataloguing, and am trying to populate the branch library with downloaded records (so students can learn how to amend them to build their familiarity with the Cataloguing Module). However, all the records I download using Z39.50 are stuck in the reservoir and do not enter the catalogue. In the previous version records went to both locations. Every keyword Catalogue search I do says: No results found Biblios in reservoir There are certainly items in the reservoir, but the only options for these are Preview: MARC/Card and Add Biblio. How do I transfer items from the Reservoir to the Catalogue? I have read the section in the Koha 3.2 manual about Staged MARC Records, but I do not know how to save files with an .mrc file extension, and it would take forever with each record. It worked so neatly before. I could not find anything on this in the Koha 3.4 Manual did I miss something? Viktor mentioned a related problem in a posting in June, but the Bug 3069 (http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=3069) he linked to does not have a solution yet. I must be missing something as no library could function with items only showing in the reservoir, and it does not seem to have caused undue concern on the list. Confession: currently I have a large number of unread messages in my Koha email folder, but I cant find anything more in the Koha community archive. I also used the Google search tool set up by Lori, which was helpful but did not locate a fix. There is a 2008 posting which says that rebuild_zebra needs to be running smoothly could that be the problem? My IT guy has just gone home so I cant check. Have we missed something in the setup? How can I get these records transferred easily to the catalogue? There is an assignment on this which is due shortly, so I need to get it fixed soon. Hi, I'm gathering news for the September newsletter. Please send me by the 24th anything you think the community might like to know about. "News" can be as short as a sentence or as long as a paper. I especially encourage you to send me a line or two about what you're currently working on for publication in the gossip/society column. And if you know of a go-live not announced on the list, please be sure to let me know about it. Many thanks, Daniel Grobani

Installer error on database initialization
by Tom Hanstra 21 Sep '11

21 Sep '11

I've run into a problem with a database setting somewhere. I ran the installer a few days ago and it worked properly to install the database tables into the remote server database which I specified. Today, I ran the installer again with what I thought were the same parameters, but with a different database name because I wanted a clean install. But this time, instead of properly using the remote server, I get an error that the installer cannot DROP a table and it is obvious from the error message that it is not using the remote server. What might I have missed? The koha-conf.xml file shows the remote database server configured, so why might the installer not be properly using that? Any ideas where to look? Matching Rules not working in Marc Record import
by Hartman, David W. - GBTS Library 21 Sep '11

21 Sep '11

I am wanting to import MARC records to my Koha system. Many (500) of the staged books are duplicates and have identical ISBNs but Koha is not recognizing them as duplicates. I can see from the "staged" screen that on the right hand side the phrase "Match?" is filled with "no_match", yet there are 500 duplicate records. Is this a bug that will be fixed? I notice there is an option to match by ISBN or ISSN but Koha does not seem to be able to recognize the first (original) record. David W.
