New to the list-- questions about BISAC

Our library consortium is in the initial stages of moving from Ex Libris to Koha with an entirely new LIS administrator. The administrator we are considering suggested that I join the list as a place to get answers and advice from people who are using a Koha generated LIS. I am a reference librarian assigned the task of coming up with the right questions to ask as we go through the process of setting up the profile of what we want our Koha system to do. The list moderator suggested I introduce myself in my first post. Thanks for your patience. Now for my first question. We have also decided to drop DDC as a classification system and change to a modification of the BISAC (Book Industry Study Group) headings. For example, instead of "579.17 Dunn" we will have "Medical--Microbiology--Dunn". Does anyone have any experience using BISAC instead of DDC when using Koha? What MARC field(s) did you use for classification? Is there any reason to include the BISAC alpha-numeric code that accompanies each term in the MARC field? (in this example MED 052000). Thanks. Database tables

Is there a list anywhere of what database tables relate to which modules and/or screens? I'd like to get a better idea of which tables relate to various types of data as opposed to tables which relate to system settings and other more static values. The table names are fairly self-explanatory, but if there is a more complete data map, that would be useful. Unable to recieve purchase suggestions via email

Hello Koha list, My patrons can make suggestions and can see their requests tracked but no email is being generated to the Librarian. In OPAC preferences, suggestions are "allowed" They can choose branches (allowed) Anonymous suggestions are not allowed Suggestions are not displayed Requests are being created but not emailed... Does anyone have suggestions? My email is set up and I am recieving emails when a patron updates their records. [cid:image001.jpg@01CC76A8.9D430460]

Koha Installation Help

I am newbie to koha project.After spending 2 days on it ,i could not install it.I followed install-ubuntu documentation of it.I placed koha project in /var/www directory.After following the instructions from the manual when i browsed to "localhost:8080",it says. Running koha 3.04.01 on Ubuntu 10.04 64 Bit server edition without Zebra Index

Dear All, We have installed Koha 3.04.01 on Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit on a server. Even after migrating book database to koha, I am not able to see the detail on the OPAC or staff client's search interface. The Error is comming. IDZebra 2.0 is not installed, we tried to installed the same but in vain. Once again I like to clarify that we are installing KOHA 3.04.01 on Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid (64 bit server), MySQL 5.1.41, Perl 5.0.001 Apache 2.2.14. Please share your feedback. Report help needed

Hello everyone, I need a report that shows the average age of our item collections at specific branches. I've looked at the pre-made sql reports on the Koha-Community pages but nothing there is useful for this report and I've also tried to make my own with no success. I would be grateful if someone could give guide me in the right direction. 3.4.x String Freeze
