Unable to place holds from OPAC
by Ian Green 09 Oct '11

09 Oct '11

Hi We have a problem with patrons being able to place holds from OPAC. See screenshot. I assume there is a rule somewhere that we have wrong. Can someone point me in the direction of where to look? Patrons are allowed to place holds on books that are not checked out. Borrowers are allowed 10 holds for this particular item type. Barcode height
by Richard Hills - TechnologyWise 09 Oct '11

09 Oct '11

Hi, I am using koha to print labels with barcodes for books, however am wondering if it is possible to increase the height of the barcodes generated without increasing the width. In the last version we were working with these barcodes had a height of around 10mm for us, however this has now halved and users are finding it difficult to get used to. Thank you. -- Richard Hills TechnologyWise Ltd, Tauranga, NZ richard(a)tw.co.nz www.technologywise.co.nz ph: +64 (0)7 571 1060 fax: +64 (0)7 571 1061

Is anyone out there working on a KOHA target for SFX? I find brief mentions of this being a good and attainable goal but no actual code or files.... Documentation - another slight change
by Tom Hanstra 07 Oct '11

Nicole, Another thing I noticed. In 1.13.1.6. QueryRemoveStopwords it looks like the functionality in the current version has changed slightly from what you have in the docs. Tom, Remember to reply to all so the list can help. I've never seen that preference. Are you on an official Koha release? Best practice for registering pupils in a school library?
by Magnus Enger 06 Oct '11

06 Oct '11

Dear Community, Here comes a non-technical question! I have some customers who are school libraries, and I'm wonder what is the best way to register pupils as patrons. I'm thinking sometimes it will be interesting to be able to group them by the year they are in (1. year, 2. year etc), and sometimes it will be interesting to group them by the class they are in (in Norway these will typically be called 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B etc). I'm also thinking that during summer it will be useful to batch delete all the pupils who left at the end of the spring semester. And of course, every summer all the pupils who have not left will have to be shifted up one class. So maybe it's better to avoid the classes alltogether and use the year they enrolled for something? One of the libraries in question has created patron categories based on class, so they have patron types called 1A, 1B etc - I'm not sure what they plan to do when everyone gets shifted up one class at the end of the spring semester... ;-) So again: How are y'all registering pupils in Koha? Best regards, Magnus Enger libriotech.no
