Upgrade reports from 3.0 to 3.2.10
by rfblanchard 31 Oct '11

My problem is related to koha permissions. I doubt anyone has delt with this situation, so I'll try to explain the problem. I recently took over the support of the koha system that takes care of all the schools for my province. We are using koha 3.0 that has customizations. Because of these customizations we are not able to upgrade right now to the latest 3.6 version of koha. We are just now starting to take advantage of koha reports. Koha 3.2 introduced 'runtime parameters'. We need this feature but it didn't exist in 3.0. My plan is to 'overwrite' the reports files in my system with the reports from version 3.2.10. Note: I'd like to use the reports from 3.4.5 however version 3.4 koha introduced Template::Toolkit. Version 3.0 used HTML::Template::Pro, so grabbing files from version 3.4+ caused additional problems. With all that said, I have successfully moved over a number of report files from 3.2.10 to my old 3.0 project. It now had the ability to do 'runtime parameters'. When I set up a patrons permissions, if I give them access to 'create' and 'execute' reports then everything works perfect. However, if they only have access to one permission 'create' or 'execute' then the moment I click 'used saved' then the user is booted out of the system with: 'Error: Unauthorized user click to log out' Does anyone know what file I may also need to update? Here is a list of what I did so far: Upgrade Reports to v3.2.10 ---- C:\Documents and Settings\rblanchard\Desktop\koha-3.2.10\reports\ /usr/share/koha/intranet/cgi-bin/reports cd /usr/share/koha/intranet/cgi-bin/reports chmod 755 *.pl chmod 755 *.plugin ---- open C:\Documents and Settings\rblanchard\Desktop\koha-3.2.10\reports\guided_reports.pl find my $url = "/cgi-bin/koha/reports/guided_reports.pl?reports=$report&phase=Run%20this%20report"; add this section under it if (@sql_params) { $url = join('&sql_params=', $url, map { URI::Escape::uri_escape($_) } @sql_params); } save file and ftp this change to C:\Documents and Settings\rblanchard\Desktop\koha-3.2.10\reports\ ---- C:\Documents and Settings\rblanchard\Desktop\koha-3.2.10\C4\Reports.pm /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Reports.pm ---- C:\Documents and Settings\rblanchard\Desktop\koha-3.2.10\C4\Branch.pm /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Branch.pm ---- C:\Documents and Settings\rblanchard\Desktop\koha-3.2.10\C4\Reports\ /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Reports ---- C:\Documents and Settings\rblanchard\Desktop\koha-3.2.10\koha-tmpl\intranet-tmpl\prog\en\includes\reports-menu.inc /usr/share/koha/intranet/htdocs/intranet-tmpl/prog/en/includes/reports-menu.inc ---- C:\Documents and Settings\rblanchard\Desktop\koha-3.2.10\koha-tmpl\intranet-tmpl\prog\en\includes\guided-reports-view.inc /usr/share/koha/intranet/htdocs/intranet-tmpl/prog/en/includes/guided-reports-view.inc ---- C:\Documents and Settings\rblanchard\Desktop\koha-3.2.10\koha-tmpl\intranet-tmpl\prog\en\includes\date-format.inc /usr/share/koha/intranet/htdocs/intranet-tmpl/prog/en/includes/date-format.inc ---- C:\Documents and Settings\rblanchard\Desktop\koha-3.2.10\koha-tmpl\intranet-tmpl\prog\en\modules\reports\ /usr/share/koha/intranet/htdocs/intranet-tmpl/prog/en/modules/reports ---- run permissions against DB USE kohadb; insert into `permissions`(`module_bit`,`code`,`description`) values (16,'create_reports','Create SQL Reports'); insert into `permissions`(`module_bit`,`code`,`description`) values (16,'execute_reports','Execute SQL reports'); ---- -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Upgrade-reports-from-3-0-to-3-2-10-tp4924… Sent from the Koha-general mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Re: [Koha] Introduction and incredibly slow searches

Is top showing that you really are using the 4 CPUs available? Pressing the numeral 1 will toggle multiple CPU lines in top. To display the CPU a program is running on first press 'f' then 'J' to add the CPU in use column (P) to top's display. What is your load average? Does 'uname -a' show that you're running the SMP version of Debian? Koha was installed following these directions: http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_3.2_on_Debian_Squeeze and the install notes towards the bottom of this page starting at “Step: Install Koha” http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Setting_Up_Koha_in_Virtual_Environment_… The server is a virtual machine on ESXi v4.1. It is the only virtual machine on the host ESXi server. It has 4 CPUs dedicated to it, as well as 1GB RAM Watching “top” it doesn’t use enough RAM to get to need to swap Top shows: opac-search.pl for however many tabs I open from the initial search screen followed up with opac-detail.pl ping requests are <1ms Machines are on the same physical network, just different subnets. Where did you download it? I noticed that you went "through the examples on liblime.com". If that is where you downloaded koha then you are not running the community version of koha. Regardless of what koha you are running, check the output of the command "top". That should give you an idea of what is taking up time in the process. Are all these machines on a local network? Is ping response between the machines reasonable? I’m running the latest stable koha-common 3.6 (updated a few minutes ago) on Debian 6.0.3. I have successfully entered in a record for one book. When I search from the initial koha page it takes ~4 seconds to find this item. Then once the item has loaded if I click one of the links for a searchable item (author, details, etc.) it takes ~4-5 seconds for it to load. When I open all of these options at the same time in new tabs it takes forever. It seems to be an almost linear increase in the time it takes for the searches to complete. Also, each new tab running a different search will continue to run until one has finished, then once one has finished another will go. This process is ~4 seconds for each search. Seems like all searches are in a very slow queue. So for this example book I have in the system there are 7 items that are searchable. If I go through and open each in a separate tab the total process for all of this is 30+seconds. I tried running a webserver load test with just 10 users clicking on a different link each time the new page loaded and it failed horribly with an average page load wait of 50 seconds I really don’t know where to go to look for what’s causing this. When I use the “browse by author or subject search”, the authority search results page comes back in less than 2 seconds. Though it does show 0 biblios records (no clue what that is) I’ve gone through many example sites found here: http://www.liblime.com/demos And they don’t seem to have this same issue. Any help. Thought, direction would be greatly appreciated! For what it's worth..... http://lists.katipo.co.nz/public/koha/2009-June/018753.html We still make all of our labels this way....export from csv into label making software, works slick-as-can-be. The Brother QL-500 label software is great..... >>> Randall Rowe<r.rowe(a)lincolnlibraries.org> 10/28/2011 9:31 AM >>> Best idea I saw on this was to get some really great labeling software and install MySQL odbc to pull the values into the 3rd part labeling software. Merging Libraries from different servers using koha branch library feature
by sheldon_tappin 28 Oct '11

Hi All, We have two instances of Koha (both are different libraries) on two servers. We want to create a branch and a main library on a server, then import the records from the two separate servers (each library), one will be the main library and the other will be branch library. Please tell me how we can do this.
