Hello all, as the suject suggests, if i try to hold an item using the following method: http://localhost/cgi-bin/koha/ilsdi.pl?service=HoldItem&patron_id=1&bib_id=… i am getting an error like this one: Software error: Can't use string ("1") as a HASH ref while "strict refs" in use at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/ILSDI/Utility.pm line 88. Note: if the item does not exist, then it returns an xml sheet with 'record not found' but if everything exists, then i am getting the above error. just to inform, i can get item details or patron details through the ils-di without any problem. Any help will be appreciated. Thankx, Auninda

Dear Community, We recently acquired some books from India. A very high number of them do not have their ISBNs registered in any databases where we can copy catalogue from. Do they (India) have their own version of the Z39.50 to which we can subscribe? Please help. Survey/Interview request on Open Source ILS
by Vandana Singh 20 Oct '11

20 Oct '11

Greetings! The OSS Lib Tech Team <http://www.oss-research.com/> is currently in the third phase of a multiple year project funded by IMLS comparing the technical support of Open Source and Proprietary Integrated Library Systems. We are soliciting participation for an online survey or telephone interviews from the open source community for the current phase, which will use the experience of open source software ILS adopters to develop a model for the evaluation, adoption, implementation, and maintenance of open source ILS. The telephone interview consists of several questions about your ILS migration experience and will take about 30 minutes. We have already interviewed several librarians over the past few weeks and would like to hear from your experiences. We are happy to compensate you for your time with a $25 Amazon gift card. We are especially interested in talking to K-12 school librarians. If you would prefer to fill out a web-based survey, you may do so at http://oss-research.cci.utk.edu/Phase_3_survey. If you know of anyone who would be interested in the study or in being interviewed please forward this email to them or direct them to our site at http://www.oss-research.com/ where they can find out more about the project. We are interested in learning about the experiences of libraries of different types and sizes and are interested in hearing from you even if your migration to an open source ILS is not complete. If you are willing to participate, please respond to this email with the subject phrase "ILS Interview." In the same email please mention: · The type of library (public, academic, school, special, etc.) you represent and · The approximate size of your collection. We really appreciate your time and support and look forward to reporting back the results from this study! Thanks again to everyone who has already responded and to the great support of the open source community. Please direct any queries or suggestions to utk.ils.research(a)gmail.com with the subject “ILS Interview” in the subject line. Cheers, The OSS Lib Tech Team Vandana Singh (PI) Natasha Hollenbach and Vance Walker (RA) -- Vandana Singh, PhD Assistant Professor, School of Information Sciences, University of Tennessee Knoxville, 449 Communications Bldg. 1345 Circle Park Drive Knoxville, TN 37996-0341 Email: vandana(a)utk.edu Website: www.vandanasingh.com

Changing the way passwords are entered in the staff client
by Owen Leonard 20 Oct '11

20 Oct '11

There is an open bug report (http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=5280) suggesting that the staff client's "change password" page (accessed via the "Change Password" button from a patron's account in the staff client) use a password-type input form, meaning the password you enter would be masked as it is on login forms ("*******"). I have a patch in progress which would implement this along with a second confirmation field ("confirm password") as is customary on change password forms--you can't be confident you're entering the password correctly if your entry is masked. The problem is that this doesn't work with the feature which suggests a random password: "Below is a randomly generated suggestion." We can't offer to give the patron a randomly-generated password if we aren't able to tell them what it is when we're assigning it. I'm asking for opinions: Is the random password feature something we can give up? -- Owen -- Web Developer Athens County Public Libraries http://www.myacpl.org

Hi All I just wanted to find out if there is a way of tracking staff activities in koha. I means things like who performed which transactions or who catalogued which book.
