Introduction and incredibly slow searches

Hello Everyone, New to the list, new to Koha, increasingly frustrated :} I've built a koha server for our in-house library which seems to have gone over fine but I'm having issues with incredibly slow search response. I'm running the latest stable koha-common 3.6 (updated a few minutes ago) on Debian 6.0.3. I have successfully entered in a record for one book. When I search from the initial koha page it takes ~4 seconds to find this item. Then once the item has loaded if I click one of the links for a searchable item (author, details, etc.) it takes ~4-5 seconds for it to load. When I open all of these options at the same time in new tabs it takes forever. It seems to be an almost linear increase in the time it takes for the searches to complete. Also, each new tab running a different search will continue to run until one has finished, then once one has finished another will go. This process is ~4 seconds for each search. Seems like all searches are in a very slow queue. So for this example book I have in the system there are 7 items that are searchable. If I go through and open each in a separate tab the total process for all of this is 30+seconds. I tried running a webserver load test with just 10 users clicking on a different link each time the new page loaded and it failed horribly with an average page load wait of 50 seconds I really don't know where to go to look for what's causing this. When I use the "browse by author or subject search", the authority search results page comes back in less than 2 seconds. Though it does show 0 biblios records (no clue what that is) I've gone through many example sites found here: http://www.liblime.com/demos And they don't seem to have this same issue. Any help. Barcode and spine label printing in Koha

If so, does someone have a template for this or similar? Since Koha uses MySQL as a backend for the data, one can use any number of programs that have open database connectivity to access the data and print custom reports and labels. I am most familiar with MS Access as a good front end for making nice reports and labels. I have also set up LibreOffice/OpenOffice Base as a front end to the data to make custom reports and labels. This is how we do patron cards. One of these days I'll post my database frontend on the wiki with a how to. Once the open database connectors are installed, it is simply a matter of connecting to the database with the right password. I give only read privileges to this database so as not to mess up any of the MySQL data. It is some learning to become familiar with database front ends, but once you get the basics down, you can customize to your heart's content without needing to know any code. Knowing this key skill will also enable you to do lots of customized letters to the patrons or bulk email notifications.

Logout of Staff client - 3.4.5

I just noticed that Logout of the Staff Client for 3.4.5 is not working properly. Choosing logout gives a blank screen, but returning to the Staff Client shows I'm still logged in. Has anyone else noticed this? Or do I have something mis-configured? 3.4.x String Freeze and Road Map Update

As of 0016 UTC, the 3.4.x branch is in string freeze. Only patches not affecting strings and critical and blocker bugfixes will be pushed. My plans are to release 3.4.6 on 1 November 2011, and to move all subsequent 3.4.x releases to the first of the month. 3.4.7 will release 1 December 2011, and then I plan to move to a bi-monthly release schedule for the 3.4.x branch as long as there are applicable commits. After the release of 3.4.12 (or if several months pass with no applicable commits submitted) I will enter a motion to EOL the 3.4.x branch at the next nearest monthly IRC meeting. If you have any comments/suggestions/critiques of this road map, feel free to respond to this thread with them. Also, if you see something in master which I have missed or know of a 3.4.x patch in bugzilla missed, please feel free to point it out. I'll be glad to catch it in the next release. Overdue notices

Hi Our overdue notices are not being sent to patrons. They show in the patron's Notices tab with a failed status. When I look in the message_queue table, the to_address field is 'NULL'. Can anyone suggest why this is happening. The patron does have an email address. We are using version 3.02.00.004. CAS Authentication with Staff Client

Can CAS authentication be used with the Staff Client? I was able to get it working with the OPAC, but not on the Staff side. Mapping to Koha Full call number field

Hi all Our old system used to keep the call number in one field 852 with 3 sub-fields as follows: 852h - Classification part 852i - Item part and 852k - Call number prefix Now, Koha keeps the call number in 952o and so when importing records from the previous system, I mapped all theses fields into 952o and now the opac presents the call number in this way - 2806 POT LB instead of LB2806 POT.
