setting up predue notices
by TSBC Library 15 Nov '11

15 Nov '11

Hi there, 1. Can anyone help me please to set up notices warning borrowers that items are nearly due. I see a predue notice in the notices list but can't find how to set up when it goes out. 2. Also, I would like to know how to insert the due date into this notice and the overdue notices. It does not appear in the list of fields available. I have scoured the manual but have not been able to find either item. What am I doing wrong? We are running Version 3.02.00.004 Many thanks, Rachel Black RLIANZA Library Manager The Shepherd's Bible College 354 Te Aute Road, RD 2, Hastings 4172 New Zealand PO Box 8229 Havelock North 4157 New Zealand Phone: +64-6-873-0054 Fax: +64-6-877-7545 Mobile: +64-22-034-3752 Email: library(a)tsbc.org.nz Web: www.tsbc.org.nz/library MSN: library(a)tsbc.org.nz Skype: tsbc.library

Branches and circulation rules
by library 15 Nov '11

15 Nov '11

Tena koutou We are struggling to understand the way individual branches work. We would like to create an independent branch to issue laptops to students (and departmental resources later) which will not be affected by how many library books students have overdue. I have tried setting circulation rules in the laptop issues branch to be completely different to those in our library but this has not worked. Are we able to define differing borrow rules for the same patron at different libraries. Could someone direct me to more complete instructions on how the overdues systems work or how circulation rules work. We are still using 3.2 but will be migrating to 3.6 in the New Year. Koha 3.6.0 Label Creator > Text Fields to Print Issues
by Paul Vilhan 15 Nov '11

15 Nov '11

Hello Friends This is my first post here, but I have been following your excellent work for a while. Koha is in my view the most versatile and easy to use Library system I know of. After 7 years of using version 2.0.0 I have decided to upgrade. Since I was testing a LiveCD 3.2.5 and I was pleased with the flexibility and accuracy of the setup of barcode label layouts. My layout is based on Code 39 Biblio/Barcode. With a fresh installation of 3.6.0 I ran into two problems with the resulting PDF (but the same applies to CSV and XML). 1. In 3.2.5 the bib text could be easily picked either through Koha Field (e.g. itype, homebranch) or MARC subfield (e.g. 952y, 952a). In 3.6.0 only the Koha fields are visibly printed, while choosing the MARC subfields returns white space. 2. In 3.2.5 I also used to have two fields per line with the use of quotes, e.g. "homebranch itype" or "952a 952y" and it worked fine. With 3.6.0 again I get white space instead of printed fields. Looking at the resulting XML I notice a parsing problem with the quotes, as if they were not recognized. Is this a bug or a feature? Neither the manual nor the help files seem to reflect changes concerning the layout setup since 3.2.5. Is there any other option to make two text fields enter in one line? I would enormously appreciate your kind answer and guidance. interlibrary loan
by Deborah Duce 15 Nov '11

15 Nov '11

Hello Everyone, Our migration to KOHA is going pretty well but we've run into one bump and it has to do with interlibrary loan. Wondering what setup/practice you have for ILL at your libraries. Right now it looks as if the best method would be to create a fast add item for each title. Your help is much appreciated. List of Koha libraries and/or their OPACs
by Buster 15 Nov '11

15 Nov '11

Hi. I've been poking around for some library OPACs to study what is possible with Koha but haven't had much luck. I'd like to steal some ideas for developing our own OPAC. Could someone point me to such a list? Also, any other suggestions or OPAC development tools would be much appreciated. Thanks much! --Jim Maroon

Hi all, We are cataloguing book with koha 3.6. We don't use any predefine classification (e.g dewey). We filled the catalogue form with values for field 942. When we display the result of sourcing the catalogue the information about the callnumber is not display. Can someone suggest how to display these fields correctly? Thank you, regards.
