Fwd: Re: Virtualhost definitions
by Lenora Oftedahl 01 May '12

We are stuck. Trying to install the Koha opac, staff interface & Wordpress CMS for our website on the same machine. To get the website to come up we have to enter the IP address/streamnetlibrary If we just enter the IP address, we get the Index of / (OPAC-Tmpl). IP Address:8080 works exactly right for the staff interface. So, here's a virtualhost definitions. Would a kind soul please tell us where we are going wrong? We're going to try setting the OPAC port to :8000, will that work? :/etc/apache2# cat httpd.conf #WordPress and OPAC <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName redwood DirectoryIndex index.php DocumentRoot /var/www/streamnetlibrary Alias /streamnetlibrary "/var/www/streamnetlibrary" Include /etc/koha/apache-shared.conf Include /etc/koha/apache-shared-opac.conf SetEnv KOHA_CONF "/etc/koha/sites/library/koha-conf.xml" ErrorLog /var/log/koha/library/opac-error.log <Directory "/var/www/streamnetlibrary"> Options Indexes FollowSymLinks AllowOverride None Order allow, deny Allow from all </Directory> <Directory "/usr/share/koha/opac/htdocs"> Options Indexes FollowSymLinks AllowOverride None Order allow, deny Allow from all </Directory> <Directory "/usr/share/koha/opac/cgi-bin"> Options Indexes FollowSymLinks AllowOverride None Order allow, deny Allow from all </Directory> </VirtualHost> # Intranet <VirtualHost *:8080> Include /etc/koha/apache-shared.conf Include /etc/koha/apache-shared-intranet.conf ServerName redwood SetEnv KOHA_CONF "/etc/koha/sites/library/koha-conf.xml" AssignUserID library-koha library-koha ErrorLog /var/log/koha/library/intranet-error.log <Directory "usr/share/koha/intranet/htdocs"> Options -Indexes FollowSymLinks AllowOverride None Order allow, deny Allow from all </Directory> </VirtualHost>

Can Koha support two different classification systems simultaneously?
by Dianna Roberts 01 May '12

01 May '12

A hypothetical question. We use DDC classification but if we were to add a branch library that uses LC classification would this be possible? And to have both showing in the same list of search results? Right To Left in Arabic KOHA
by Karam Qubsi 30 Apr '12

30 Apr '12

Hi all . I'm looking to develop the result of koha translation process in Arabic as you know the Arabic language is deffer from English in Arabic we read and write from right to left this is possible to be modified by hand but if we want to create an Arabic version of koha we need to make the text by default goes from right to left . so what we have to do to make this koha Arabic Version ? and make it as a choice in the installations steps when selecting Arabic. I think my group can edit the css files and make this ok (direction rtl ) but how to make this changes Permanent for every new Arabic Koha installation can we make some default template for Arabic language , or that can be selected from the po files in some way ? or it must be included in the koha package , or what ? Both Arabic and Hebrew, and the non-Semitic languages using the Arabic or the Hebrew alphabet, such as Persian and Yiddish, are written from right to left (except for their numbers!). Urdu which is also derived from Arabic and Persian language and ancient indo - aryan language binti is written from right to left. Ancient Egyptian, Etruscan, Greek and the oldest Latin could be written in both directions. Also Chinese and Japanese can be written right to left (also written from top to bottom, vertically). Korean is NOT written from right to left I wish we discuss this to make the next koha version fully supported for Arabic language Kind regards -- Karam Qubsi Koha Arab translation Team http:koha.wikibrary.org Wikibrary for Arab librarians http://wikibrary.org

I have successfully recovered from failures as described (any previous corruption of *data* will not be fixed.) Lessons: you never have too many backups and innodb can be sensitive to insipid HD failure - consider a RAIDed setup.
