patron circulation issue
by Jennifer Coleman-Davidson 24 Apr '12

24 Apr '12

Hi, We've recently been having an issue with circulating books to some of our patrons. When we scan the book a yellow box appears near the top of the screen but it doesn't say anything and the system won't allow the patron to sign the book out. It seems to be a patron specific problem and not a book specific problem. We've checked all the patrons' information and nothing seems to be wrong in that area. Any ideas as to what is the underlying cause? by Olugbenga Adara 23 Apr '12

23 Apr '12

Hello all, Projektlink Konsult Limited, Nigeria has decided to make a bid for Kohacon13. As some of those at Kohacon10 may remember, I said during my skype presentation that we hope Kohacon will come to Nigeria before Kohacon15. We have now put up a bid on http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Kohacon2013#Proposals_for_hosting I do hope to put up a dedicated page to offer more info about the bid, and your support will really help to encourage us. We are considering hosting within the campus of the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) with their world class conference facility. Regards. Custom call-number schemes
by Peter Aronson 23 Apr '12

23 Apr '12

Hi, We're a very specialized library dealing with a very narrow range of subjects, so we've created our own classification/call-number system. I'd just like to make sure we're doing it right: We've created something like CALLNUM as an authorized values category, and then we're putting our general call number heading (e.g. BC1100) as the Authorized Value, and then "Reference--Dictionaries" as the Description and the Description (OPAC). And then we've mapped CALLNUM as a mandatory field on our Marc framework. Does it sound like we're doing this the right way? Thanks, Peter Aronson DGL Library, India

ANN: More sponsors join KohaCon12 (please circulate)
by MJ Ray 23 Apr '12

23 Apr '12

The hosts of KohaCon12 are pleased to announce more sponsors of this year's event. Thanks to the sponsors for sponsoring KohaCon12 to be hosted in Edinburgh this June by software.coop, the Library Co-op and Butte-Silver Bow Public Library – you've helped to make the conference a bit better and we really appreciate it! These organisations have answered our call for sponsors – thank you to all of them: * Full Monty Sponsors: - Tamil - PTFS Europe - Catalyst * Kind Hearts Sponsors: - Libriotech - Projektlink Konsult - The Galecia Group We are still looking for organisations who are prepared to show their support for Koha by making a financial contribution towards the cost of the conference. We aim to make the conference as accessible as possible so there is no registration fee for delegates, which means that we rely on the generosity of sponsors to make the event a success. All donations are welcome at http://koha-community.org/kohacon12/sponsoring-kohacon12/ whether or not you choose a sponsorship package. Registrations are still open at http://koha-community.org/kohacon12/registration/ About KohaCon12: KohaCon12 will be held in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK, 5-7 June 2012, followed by the hackfest 9-11 June. This is a free conference for everyone interested in the Koha library system, which is Free and Open Source Software. There is no registration fee, but we will ask that attendees pre-register. Calls for papers, sponsors and registrations are posted on the website. Details (travel, hotels, agenda draft, etc) can be found linked from http://koha-community.org/kohacon12/ KohaCon12 is the fifth KohaCon, following last year's successful conference in India which brought together users and developers worldwide. KohaCon12 will feature an international slate of speakers (both Koha users and active Koha contributors) conducting presentations and workshops on a diverse range of topics. Talks will cover a range of topics from general experiences of Koha through to technical information on the various modules. -- MJ Ray (slef), member of www.software.coop, a for-more-than-profit co-op. http://koha-community.org supporter, web and library systems developer. Re: [Koha] Bulk patron anonymize/delete tool
by Fischer, Katrin 22 Apr '12

Hi Tom, you have to create a patron record to use as anonymous patron. Then you enter the borrowernumber of this user into the system preference AnonymousPatron. http://manual.koha-community.org/3.8/en/administration.html#AnonymousPatron Hope that helps, Katrin -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- Von: Tom Hanstra [mailto:tom@nd.edu] Gesendet: Mo 16.04.2012 22:26 An: Fischer, Katrin Betreff: Re: AW: [Koha] Bulk patron anonymize/delete tool We are seeing similar results to what you mention, in that the tool says information is deleted but nothing changes. Your bugzilla post mentions that things work "With an anonymous patron set up correctly". Can you tell me what settings are involved in setting that up "correctly". Because we evidently do not. live database v. production/public databases
by Lenora Oftedahl 20 Apr '12

20 Apr '12

We've been running a production database that moves to a public database overnight. We're going with a live database where I'm accessing the same database that customers are using. What should we be looking out for as far as security issues? Thanx. Lenora StreamNet Regional Librarian Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission
