by Lenora Oftedahl 23 May '12

23 May '12

Can anyone tell us what this means? Thanx. >>> From: Hilary Forrest To: Lenora Oftedahl Date: 5/23/2012 9:05 AM Subject: opac error log error [Wed May 23 09:02:11 2012] [error] [client 66.249.67.249] [Wed May 23 09:02:11 2012] opac-search.pl: Use of uninitialized value $lang in string eq at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Templates.pm line 336. Looks like some parameter is not being set - it should have a default. Again - not sure if this has an effect but I want my logs to be clean!

Competing patron messages
by Owen Leonard 23 May '12

23 May '12

We currently have two different ways to add messages to a patron's record: You can add an "OPAC note" or "Circulation note" when editing the patron record, or you can add a "Message" from the checkout screen. Is there any reason to continue to offer these two options? I propose that we eliminate the notes which are stored in the borrowers table and migrate them to the messages table. Since the messages table includes the library where the message was set, we could add the patron's home library as the message's originating library. Are there reasons why libraries are choosing to set messages via the patron edit interface rather than the circulation interface? -- Owen -- Web Developer Athens County Public Libraries http://www.myacpl.org

Koha - Software error while adding or editing item records
by Subramanian Natarajan 22 May '12

22 May '12

Hi, I am a newbie to Koha LMS and I'm not a librarian. We are testing Koha in order to propose this system to one of our customers. I am a system engineer with little library background. I am experiencing this error during my testing. Any help to solve this will be greatly appreciated. Server information Koha version: 3.06.04.000 OS version ('uname -a'): Linux koha.com 2.6.32-131.0.15.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Sat May 21 10:27:57 CDT 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Perl interpreter: /usr/bin/perl Perl version: 5.010001 Perl @INC: /usr/share/koha/lib /usr/local/lib64/perl5 /usr/local/share/perl5 /usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl /usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl /usr/lib64/perl5 /usr/share/perl5 . MySQL version: mysql Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.1.61, for redhat-linux-gnu (x86_64) using readline 5.1 Apache version: Server version: Apache/2.2.15 (Unix) Server built: Feb 14 2012 09:47:14 Zebra version: Zebra server is used. Koha server is installed on Scienfic Linux 6.1 I have downloaded the bib records from LC using z39.50 gateway. I am getting the following error when I tried to add an item to the newly created bib record. " Software error: Can't call method "subfield" on an undefined value at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Biblio.pm line 2992. For help, please send mail to the webmaster (webmaster@localdomain), giving this error message and the time and date of the error. " But the item record was properly saved to the database. I am also getting the same error when editing the item records. I have searched the internet for answers but failed to find any help. I guess it is my ignorance that I might have missed to do some thing important. If anybody encountered this issue earlier or know the answer, please help. Thanks. Regards, Mani.

Debian Installation for KOHA
by felix chisoni 22 May '12

22 May '12

I have finally downloaded the debian-6.0.5-i386-iso (191.00mb- napoleon.um.se) and copied it on a CD. It is a small installation image from Debian website. This morning, I was trying to install it for testing. Whilst it was scanning the mirrors, It indicated this warning "Bad archive mirror). It appears the reason is my poor internet connection. I am expecting to work overnight when the speed is at least faster. I am not sure if I have made any mistake. Please advise -- Felix Chisoni (College Librarian) St Luke's College of Nursing & Midwifery P. O. Box, 21 Chilema Zomba Cell :+265 0992255406 Email : felixchisoni(a)gmail.com
