Data Migration
by Chrispin Simasiku Sitali 23 Jun '12

23 Jun '12

I intend to migrate data from Koha 3.02.05.000 to Koha 3.8. The data is on machine running Ubuntu 10.10 (Koha3.2) and data will be migrated to machine running Debian Squeeze (Koha 3.8). I am requesting the Koha community to point me in the right direction on how to accomplish this mammoth task. A step by step instruction will be highly appreciated Sitali C.S. -- Charles Lwanga College of Education, P. O. Box 660193, Monze, ZAMBIA. Mobile: +26 0979 869471 SKYPE: Libsitali

Spell-check/ Did you mean
by Cab Vinton 22 Jun '12

22 Jun '12

We're still on version 3.4 & searching for "nature defecit" fails to bring up the title "Last child in the woods : saving our children from nature-deficit disorder" in both the staff & public catalog search. We have the QueryFuzzy preference enabled under Search preferences. Can anyone address whether this is expected behavior, or whether the fuzzy search engine is improved in 3.8? Didn't LibLime's Harley have something along these lines? Thank you, Cab Vinton, Director Sanbornton Public Library Sanbornton, NH Life is short. Read fast!

Refine Search - OPAC
by Chief Librarian, SAIACS 22 Jun '12

22 Jun '12

Dear Colleagues, We have migrated over 30000 marc records from our previous system to Koha 3.0.4. I wonder whether there is any option to refine the search according to item types and chronologically. I know we can do an advanced search and set limits. Our library patrons would want to have options to refine the results in this order. Please advise if there is any other way can do this. Any suggestions Thanks ______________________________________ Yesan Sellan, B.Com., MLISc., PGDLAN Chief Librarian South Asia Institute of Advanced Christian Studies (SAIACS) 363 Dodda Gubbi Cross Road, Kothanur Post Office, Bangalore -560077, India Phone: 91 80 2846 5235/5344/ 5649, Fax: 91 80 28465412, Mobile: 91-9972348251 <http://www.saiacs.org/> www.saiacs.org Alternative Email: <mailto:yesans@gmail.com> yesans(a)gmail.com ______________________________________ IMPORTANT : This message is intended only for the addressee. REPOST: Need step by step to upgrade Koha from 3.x to latest 3.8
by jp_powell 22 Jun '12

22 Jun '12

I am running on Debian Squeeze. I have made a complete system backup (just in case things don't go the way it should), and dumped the library database into a SQL file. I posted once before for instructions on how to upgrade Koha on Debian and I received 1 response but the person cautioned that it was untested. I was waiting for that person to confirm the process. After reading that response a few times, I really had a hard time trying to follow the process. So, I am reposting the request for step-by-step please. I plan to work on this server this coming weekend so a response would be helpful. If someone would rather work with me via instant messaging, please send email directly to my email address nice2odie at gmail dot com. I live in USA, in the Central Daylight time. Request; I need to be able to upgrade a PRODUCTION KOHA system to the latest version. There should be a process in place to make this easy. Thank you.
