Opac searching remote sources via z39.50

Dear sir, We're trying to find out how to extend opac search to external sources thru z39.50, but can't seem to find it in the documentation. Our intention is to be able to run a search via opac, and the search results would include results from the catalog as well as an external catalog. The koha catalogue includes a z39.50 client search ; I'm looking for the same feature within opac. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Yeah i was having this problem too. i dont know it is a bug or what, its just that whenever u make a patron u should manually putin his username and password while making his account, if u are using the auto generated username and password KOHA will never send out the email. How to add title 245$a in index searches for record matching rule

Hi folks, I want to import data in koha but records are already present. I want to add item only to these records. So I created matching rule title 245$a in matching rule, But when I imported data, it did not match anything. I am using koha 3.8.1. For this I search on list and found that there should be changes in following three files for index searches. /etc/koha-dev/etc/zebradb/biblios/etc/bib1.att /etc/koha-dev/etc/zebradb/marc_defs/marc21/biblios/record.abs /etc/koha-dev/etc/zebradb/ccl.properties the file bib1.att and record.abs have the entry for title 245$a these are below shown. In record.abs:- melm 245$a Title-cover:w,Title-cover:p,Title-cover:s,Title:w,Title:p,Title:s in bib.att file:- att 4 Title att 5 Title-series att 6 Title-uniform But there is no identification of 245$a in ccl.properties files. Please tell me how to add title tag 245$a entry in above three files for matching rule or any help how to add title tag 245$a in record matching. Thanks and regards Amit Bondwal

Holds menu.

Hello all, I was looking for a way to see all items that are on hold [regardless if they are in- house or due back]. I checked the manual, as I feel sure I have been able to do this previously. I know I could see what's on the "hold shelf" and "holds to be pulled", but how do I see everything on hold? For example I know there are a lot of holds on certain books, and I would like to be able to see that without pulling up each title individually. Your input is appreciated. Thank you. Sorry meant to reply to the list! Ours is hosted remotely. No problems, aside from the time a BMW took out the junction box on the corner and we lost the Internet connection for two days. But it certainly pays to have someone knowledgeable check out the fine print of the contract and etc. to make sure it suits your needs and that you have the access you require. Collection Development and Acquisitions Librarian Brooklyn Law School Library Brooklyn Law School Library seeks a dynamic, innovative individual to serve as its Collection Development and Acquisitions Librarian. The Library is the legal research center for Brooklyn Law School, a private law school located in downtown Brooklyn, New York City. Founded in 1901, Brooklyn Law School enrolls approximately 1,300 full-time and 170 part-time students. Position Summary Reporting to the Director of the Library, the Collection Development and Acquisitions Librarian will: * Manage the Library's acquisitions and serials operations and supervise three full-time technical services assistants. These operations include 1) investigating, ordering, receiving, claiming, and paying invoices for all library acquisitions in all formats and 2) resolving problems with orders and accounts for library materials. * Recommend to the Director of the Library sources in all formats based on 1) the Library's collection development policy, 2) recommendations of faculty, librarian liaisons to faculty, and students, 3) acquisitions tools such as YBP's GOBI, 4) publishers' catalogs, brochures, and announcements (print and online), 5) database trials offered by vendors and consortia, 6) ILLiad statistics for materials requested by patrons, and 7) other sources. * Serve as the Library's primary liaison to vendor sales departments and regularly evaluate vendors' performance. * Negotiate contract prices for print library materials with vendors. Review licenses and purchase agreements for the Library's electronic sources. Koha 3.8.1 'zebra searching' failure

Hi, our Koha at the Library of National Botanic Garden of Wales has been working with no problems for over 2 years. The system has been run, maintained, backed up etc on a local server by Library volunteers who have no IT background, and with no tech support. Installed by us, using kohalivecd, and running in Ubuntu. The company who provide IT support for the Garden's network and servers have finally agreed to take on tech support for the Library, so we offered them our complete and up-to-date back up files, but they have instead chosen to migrate the system themselves and have installed Koha 3.8.1 on a new server. I am not aware which version of Linux they are using. So far, so good... BUT the Zebra searching isn't working, in fact it's not clear that Zebra is there at all, but when I tried switching 'NoZebra' so as not to use Zebra, it still didn't work. In addition, the Z39.50 searching isn't working either. I have now asked the IT people to switch us back to our old system while they sort it out, which they've done, so at least we now do have a functioning Koha again, but wonder if anyone out there in the Koha community has had any problems with 3.8.1 and Zebra, or can suggest something for me to pass on to the Tech Support company.
