Circulation slow on KOHA

Hie, We have just started using KOHA version 3.12 but it seems to be awfully slow especially on circulation check in and check outs. Hi I have a Koha instance with over 86 000 item records and is reported to getting somewhat slower especially in the circulation function. It is running on a server with 2.7 GHz processor and 2G RAM and running on Ubuntu. Is there a way of optimizing Mysql database? CAUTION: backup your mysql db Have you ever tried cleanup_database.pl ? (it can be found in /usr/share/koha/bin/cronjobs/) We regularly use (manually, not as a cron) --sessions, --zebraqueue, --mail, --logs and --import. We use quite a short time span (often as low as one day) and immediately do a complete re-index of zebra (biblios and authorities.) The savings are quite impressive; however I would point out that we are a "reference" not a "lending" library so have no experience whether patron records would be affected. We have never used --merged nor --searchhistory. Usage: [-h|--help] [--sessions] [--sessdays DAYS] [-v|--verbose] [--zebraqueue DAYS] [-m|--mail] [--merged] [--import DAYS] [--logs DAYS] [--searchhistory DAYS] -h --help prints this help message, and exits, ignoring all other options --sessions purge the sessions table. If you use this while users are logged into Koha, they will have to reconnect. --sessdays DAYS purge only sessions older than DAYS days. -v --verbose will cause the script to give you a bit more information about the run. --zebraqueue DAYS purge completed zebraqueue entries older than DAYS days. Defaults to 30 days if no days specified. -m --mail DAYS purge items from the mail queue that are older than DAYS days. Defaults to 30 days if no days specified. --merged purged completed entries from need_merge_authorities. --import DAYS purge records from import tables older than DAYS days. Defaults to 60 days if no days specified. --logs DAYS purge entries from action_logs older than DAYS days. Fwd: Managing fines in a consortial environment

Oof. We're part of a 3-library Koha consortium and technically each library is supposed to only deal with fines pertaining to its own items. But the Fines detail page is less than helpful when it comes to figuring out to which library fines are owed. (Staff have to look at each item individually.) Do other Koha consortia have best practices for dealing with fines when dealing with multiple libraries (vs. branches of the same library system)? What improvements would you suggest? Hi, Sheldon: I suggest you to use something like text1 -- text2 -- text3 in your data, and convert strings ' -- ' into '<br/>' or '<p>' while displaying a 500 field in opac pages. You can do it using Javascript (jQuery) statements, something like this: var t = $('.contentblock').html(); t = t.replace(/ -- /g,'<p>'); $('.contentblock').html(t); This works in pages like "http://.../cgi-bin/koha/opac-detail.pl?biblionumber=NNN", where 5xx tags are contained in html tags with class "contentblock". Hi, If i have a database stored as a .sql or .csv file, is it possible to convert them to marc format then import them? or is there another way around it? Thanks

custom page content not displayed

Hi, I am having trouble displaying custom page content in koha 3.12. I have followed detailed instructions (local use, new preference, etc) but when i test the new page, it instead displays only the header i had specified for the opac main page, not page content i entered. All help is appreciated. Thanks

Items not checked out report

I've been asked for a list of the top items not checked out from one of my library branches. When I try to run the report, it says NULL instead of giving me the titles although it does say there are items that haven't been checked out. Has anyone else had the same problem and solved it? We're using Koha version 3.06.00.000 on Linux 2.6.31.5-0.1, and I usually use the Google Chrome browser on my Windows computer to access it. Thank you very much! Amber

Hi All, Our aim is to enter formatted data into the notes field [500 a] such as */<div style=""> information </div>/*. The aim is to give the reader an easier experience whilst viewing our results page. However, Koha is escaping all of the HTML characters that such as < and >. What can I do to prevent koha from overriding those characters.
