Search record not found
by Public Library 29 Nov '13

I am currently having a problem with two records. The records are entered correctly and can be found by performing keywords search. The problem is when the complete title is entered example " Trinidad and Tobago : terrific and tranquil " the record is not found. Removing the space on any side of the colon, takes you directly to the record. This is our OPAC http://www.library.dlis.gov.dm/ I have re-entered the record with the same result and have also performed a manual zebra rebuild. Any tips or advice would greatly be appreciated. Phone notification system & Koha
by Susan O'Neal 29 Nov '13

29 Nov '13

We are stumped! Migrating from Classic Dynix to Koha is scheduled for 9/09 and we need a system to replace the old Telecirc system sold to us by Dynix. Actually, the software is an older version of Edify. Is there an open source system that anyone can recommend? Or an off-the-shelf system that is robust enough that we can modify/customize? The functionality must include ability to phone customers with a computerized voice message to let them know of items on hold ready to be picked up, and of items overdue. It also has the capacity to receive calls and renew items according to our policies. This is more than the average drs office that calls with appointment reminders- must be able to link approx 250,000 item and 40,000 borrower records. Suggestions welcome! It is free as in freedom, not as in free mangoes. As we from FSF's India chapter say "Mukt not Muft". Koha from it earliest Katipo days have been written in large measures via end-user sponsored/funded development. And yet it has remained true to Free Software philosophy rather than descending into open core. Koha live dvd 3.14.00
by Quoc Uy 28 Nov '13

28 Nov '13

So finally, my first live DVD has been released. I asked some people about live dvd, and i agree about using live DVD for testing and for education, not for production (the biggest reason, i think, is security). So i left everything as default, no more modification and no more feature. http://sourceforge.net/projects/koha-latest/ If anyone has any ideas or requires, please tell me. And from now, i will make an live dvd for each Koha version 3.14.x. Best regards! Nguyen Quoc Uy Admin http://dreamlib.vn & http://vietnamlib.net

Re: [Koha] Invitation to participate in the annual Library Automation Perceptions survey
by Nathan Curulla 28 Nov '13

28 Nov '13

Greetings, I just wanted to weigh in to say that this survey is extremely important to the strength of Koha at least in the United States. Many many libraries use this survey to determine how Koha stacks up against all of the proprietary solutions, and because of the higher levels of service that is inherent with an open source product, Koha consistently stands apart both for self supported systems and those supported by a company. It is an easy way for people to see how their fellow librarians feel about the choices they made, and because this feedback has been very good, it makes more libraries want to go this route. We attempt to get as many of our customers as possible to respond to this report, not only with the hopes of getting a good response, but also so that we can identify any areas we need to work on, or what types of features need to be added to make librarians happier. Thank you for your work on this Marshall! All the best, -Nate > Nathan A.
